Default Black Friday 2024

Yeah, I know it's early, but does anybody think this will be a good BF year compared to the previous years offerings? Any speculation on what will be heavily discounted or just come back down to earthly prices?

There's almost nothing, anymore, that even interests me. All the sets with 1 sketch/box and autos that Crypto used to do are severely missed. Hopefully the movies sets they're starting up will hit on some good ones and the artists will have some creative freedom, again.

At this point, I'm about 100% sure I've commissioned more artists/cards in the last few years than boxes of non sports products opened.

I'll be watching. There's already a store in Canada liquidating UD Marvel product.

Case of Eternals for $350 USD etc.

I think the glut of Marvel product will be featured heavily.
TV shows
Loki
Falcon & Winter Soldier
What If?...
She Hulk
Wandavision
Plus movies and regular sets, but the TV product seems to be more of a niche market.

Agreed on the MCU and Disney+ stuff

Think the other site will be blowing it out for cheap cheap. I’ve picked up boxes at shows for 25-30 of some of the sets recently

Every year someone posts a thread asking about Black Friday sales.

Every year we realize the glory days of pre-2018 are dead and there are minimal to no deals to be had.

I see no reason this year will be different. All the Marvel Movie/TV boxes have already been dirt cheap all year - can't see them dropping even further.

What truly hurts is going back and looking at order history... and knowing there's almost ZERO chance we ever get great products to rip at a reasonable price point again. The sets like Adventure Time, Ghostbusters and Rick and Morty where the artists had a lot of creative freedom with popular franchises seem to be long gone, unfortunately.

They'll just do 25% and 50% off their insane pack prices. It won't hit 75% or 90% off until a couple weeks before they lose their license. Even at 75% off, they're a bad value and likely priced above what retail Marvel boxes will be on clearance for on Black Friday.

Why can't they just offload the sealed products to distributors? Losing license means UD cannot sell marvel cards, but third party like the distributors should still be able to sell them. If so, would there be a need to discount as much as 75% plus?

Products listed on epack are not "sealed products". They're bulk-packed cards in large cases that are scanned and entered into UD databases by COMC.

I couldn't even bite last year when these were, what, $50? $40?

I'm always looking for cheap(er) Star Trek cases but don't think there'll be much in the way of discounts this year.

I may pick up a WandaVision blaster case for fun if they go below $100.

I have things on my Blowout wishlist that have been there since 2021. That's the thing I don't understand about these sales. If product isn't selling at big discounts around Black Friday, why jack the price back up after Black Friday? If nobody wanted it cheap, they're definitely not going to want it regular or overpriced.

Also, one of Blowout's competitors has their Black Friday Preview sale going, with prices LOCKED IN! and guaranteed not to be cheaper on Black Friday. Slim pickings, though.

Their "Black Friday Sale" used to be legit. Now it blows.

I miss the days when I could scoop up heavily discounted hobby boxes of Rittenhouse Bond for $50-$60.

Like $100? IIRC dookie autos, decent sketch odds. You see it somewhere in that ballpark price?

$750 case D&A. Was thinking it might go down further on BF.

Those weren't even the lowest prices on stuff like that. Those were just my orders I looked for that were Black Friday. Pretty sure those Rittenhouse Marvel sketch releases were $39.95 on certain sales.... the Ghostbusters from Cryptozoic were also somewhere near $49.95 or $54.95 at some point, I think. But, the market was also smaller. Closest thing to 'flippers' were the people breaking product(s) on release day and selling off extras/duplicates because they were actually collecting or building a set.
