Oh boy some Bugs Bunny PMGs.
Maybe we should just copy/paste the whole Chrome Disney debate into this thread and save ourselves the time ![]() There probably is a minor following for Looney Tunes in nonsports..doesnt seem to get many releases (Space Jam sort of I guess). I still remember those ol early 90s UD Looney Tunes cheapo sets. But yea...buckle up, here we go again.

All-Time Toons, the "widevision" Looney Tunes set UD put out in 1996, remains one the best non-sports sets of the entire 1990's.
It was vastly superior to Comic Ball or the original Space Jam set. They'll have a hard time ever topping it.

Wording is a bit confusing in the article, but I think it says autographs (dont know what that is), and sketches are both part of the set, just not 1 per box? Sketches in this set should be fun.

It should be a fun set. Hopefully they don’t price too high and/or overprint. Space Jam had a few cool cards but they waaaaaaaay overprinted that one.

So we can assume UD doesn't have the Disney license anymore? A Fleer Retro Disney set seems like a no-brainer. Looney Tunes doesn't have the same appeal.

I kinda like that old baseball fleer ultra insert (1998?). Brings back memories of collecting those gold medallions as a kid.
Pretty standard formula in nonsports where there'll be a top dog, and then the rest. And people will gamble going for the big one. Bugs here....Mickey, Spidey, Luke in the others.

LT is like the GoBots of morphing toys. Disney is the Transformers.

To me Looney Tunes merch is frivolous summer fun. It's weird, it's crap, it's bootleg and it's kitsch. It's Six Flags and boardwalks and Tweety saying something edgy and out of character on an air-brushed t-shirt. This product should be cheap, fun and available for kids but at a glance it reads like it's going to be high-priced, shilled crap for resellers.
Voice actor autos is a neat idea -- 1,000 card set of Mel Blanc? It's not this but wouldn't that be cool? -- but it feels at odds to me with the design. Not to mention it's 2024 and I don't even know what voice actor autos for Looney Tunes means. I will have "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" stuck in my head all day though. |

Was actually just talking about this with some family over the weekend. Yes, my kid knows the Looney Tunes characters because of me, but Bugs Bunny is NOT a household name any more. My 10-year-old niece at least knows who he is, but said "He's the rabbit who says 'What's up, Doug?'" Even Lebron James couldn't make people care about them. I appreciate UD is doing this set, but I don't see it being a hit at all. I hope I'm wrong, there is so much Looney Tunes goodness I would LOVE to see on trading cards!

PMGs, E-X, Jambalaya, and so many other designs from sports, then adapted/stolen by Marvel. Who is this set made for?
I can never decide if sports-to-nonsports designs is genius or laziness.

At one point this could have been a cool entertainment release -- i.e. 1 sketch per box, or maybe a sketch or autograph per box, etc. . .
Now's it's a sports card release featuring Bugs Bunny. I may watch for some sketches, but I'm really burned out on all the sports card inserts. |

People who bought into Marvel Retro initially in some cases got huge, huge returns 5-7 years down the road during market boom. So maybe 7 years after this comes out there will be a crazy market surge and the lucky people who bought in early will be holding small fortunes?
(I kid, I kid, the cats already out of the bag now with PMGs, plus 2020 market craze was a very unique thing). Can’t believe im saying it but I almost associate PMGs and Jambalayas with nonsports as much as sports at this point, with how many marvel sets they’ve been in. It appears to be the new higher end trend- having a set like this instead of just being a fun Looney Tunes set, but this set does have a quirky feel to it that I think nonsports collectors tend to go for.

For the price they charge for packs/boxes, they could afford to put in some cuts of the original voice actors, whose autos are all fairly affordable, but we know they won't. |

It’s sad but true. I’ve tried, multiple times, when my kids are watching Loud House, Bluey or Big City Greens to change the channel to Boomerang if Looney Tunes, the Flintstones or Tom & Jerry are on. They have no interest in any of the “old stuff” and want me to change it back ASAP. They think it’s all boring and too slow.
Sadly, Kids today know more about Bad Bunny than Bugs Bunny. |

Some of the original shorts are works of art -- pure genius.
As for this release, yeah, slap any character on a PMG template and, "Boom!", instant break hit. |
