Default Album pages question….

Awhile back I went through some albums of cards I had from the early 2000’s. I found that some of the cards with glossy surfaces such as topps chrome, had become stuck in the pages. When I was able to remove the cards it basically ruined them and took off the top layer of the cards. Is that something that can’t be avoided with time or was that older album pages and they are formulated and made different now?

I have also experienced something similar, but it did not remove anything from the card. In my experience, the pages left a little film on the chrome cards. I was able to use a microfiber cloth and a little humidity to wipe it away. I also exclusively used Ultra Pro pages.

Its caused by humidity build up in the air over time.
My best advice is use penny sleeves as well then put them in pages.
Also, take them out every few weeks and fan through the pages and try your best to keep them in a non humid area.
But i have never had any stick and mess up the surfaces.

I had some pages breakdown and the only cards that reacted with the pages were the Sportsflix cards. The cards got kinda greasy and the pages they were in broke down where those cards were on the individual pages, I think due to the combination of the two types of plastic reacting with each other after 20+ years (pages were late 80's, early 90's) touching. I had a bunch of other pages that got real brittle. The cards were kept in a dry dark place and had no elemental impacts because all the paper cards were ok.

I wonder if over time it would do the same with penny sleeves though, as far as sticking to them I mean?
