How long to wait for topps redemption

i have a 2022 topps five star pentamerous penmanship dual auto of Vlad Jr and Vlad Sr thats been sitting with topps for over a year. Both guys have live autos of more recent products. I'm contemplating asking for a replacement but the cards print run is "up to 5", so could be numbered out of 5 or maybe even only 1. Is topps good about replacing things with comparable cards?

All depends on how quickly the subject signs and returns it to Topps. I’ve gotten some back in just a few weeks. And then last week I received a redemption that I was waiting more than 2 years for. I’ve heard other people have waited much much longer than that.

I’ve never asked for a sub but have heard on BO that you almost never get something back that’s comparable. This sounds like a nice hit so I’d probably wait- especially since the Vlads seem to sign a lot of stuff

I waited 5 years for my last ones. If it's a card tou want or a special card like that vlad jr/sr dual, id wait.

I waited over 2 years for Bryce Harper Black auto Topps Chrome redemption. Just depends how much you want the card. I would personally wait. That would be a real nice one.

Quick Look on eBay and I see plenty of on card dual autos of them from 2023 and zero from 2022. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s a good sign for your card ever appearing.

I've had to wait 15 months for 2022 stadium club Bobby Witt, Jr, and as short as a couple weeks for 2023 Dominic Fletcher inception debut relic. The weirdest one was the year-or-so I waited after agreeing to a substitution, but in the end, I've never, not received an acceptable card, whether pack pulled by me or bought from someone on the ebay, going back to my first in 2009.

FWIW, I have been waiting for a card for a year, and I contacted Topps CS a couple of days ago regarding a possible substitution. I let them know my collecting preferences, and they came back with the following recommendation— very excited to receive my substitution!

thanks for the input. I will probably sit tight for a bit and hope Vlad Jr doesnt fall apart. I do like the idea of contacing them with my preferences rather than taking a chance on what they decide, especially since this card is numbered no higher than 5
