Fake 1998 Bowman’s Best autos

This may have been covered already, and if so apologies for the duplicate thread, but I believe there is a seller listing several fake/backdoored 1998 Best Atomic autos on eBay. I noticed when a Konerko (which has been on my list for a while) popped up for sale and the autograph looked off. And not another has popped up.

These cards are incredibly rare and after not showing up for years it’s not feasible they are all coming for sale. It appears the seller is selling under multiple accounts and the autos on each card looks off. Here are some of the examples:

Agreed there has to be some shady shi!t going on with these. These things rarely ever come up for sale them BAM tons of them.

Yeah, not just 1998 atomic but all 1997 and 1998 Bowman’s best autographs from baseball and basketball. This has been a known issue with Jeter ones for quite a while, but clearly there’s more sheets being cut up.

Adding these sets to my mental “Do not buy list”.

Also like how every grading company has slabbed these lol.

Yes. Looks like he is selling under two accounts - possible three if that Brooklyn Discount is him as well, but it’s possible it’s just an unknowing consignor. Looks like one got to Probstein as well.

As someone who has seen hundreds of Konerko autographs - the bad ones stand out pretty clearly.

Thanks, but was inquiring for the Vladimir Guerrero Sr. auto. Still never seen a gold auto of his for that year. Just glad there's no problems with these cards.

Yeah, several weeks ago I passed along that PSA and PSA/DNA authenticated Beltre to someone at PSA, already aware of the fakes coming from this group. Thought it might get some attention but with the cert still active, I guess not.

Not surprising but very frustrating to see the accounts still actively selling fake autos.

Certainly looks like a strong possibility.

Taking another look at the OP, the PSA graded Kerry Wood (adjacent to the Chipper) was deactivated in November.
