Not sure how someone leading the league in both bWAR and fWAR, that has north of 60 WAR after their age 30 season, that's won an MVP before, can be random, but sure.

2005 NL Cy Young - Chris Carpenter
2021 NL Cy Young - Corbin Burnes
2019 NL MVP - Cody Bellinger
2020 AL ROY - Kyle Lewis

The last couple of guys don't feel as random right now because of hobby relevance during the COVID insanity, but in the eyes of baseball history, they're going to be pretty random.

Mary Marion as 1944 NL MVP - with 2 oWAR.

Wasn’t even close to being the best player on his team

I’ll try not to come off as defensive, but Carp’s CY was anything but random. If anything, it was random bad luck that he didn’t have at least one more.

If Immaculate Grid has taught me anything, it's that there are several head scratcher rookie of the year winners.

As a Braves fan I love him, but Terry Pendleton's MVP season has always been bizarre to me.
