Default 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson Rookie Card

Good evening,

I was hoping to get some opinions on my Topps 1969 Reggie Jackson Rookie Card. I plan on sending it to PSA to be graded. It is a very well centered card, but corners don't appear completely sharp to me, but I don't think there is extensive wear either.

I am not experienced with having cards graded, but was hoping someone could give me a general idea about what grade the card could potentially get.

I understand that it's very hard to predict PSA scores, especially without examining the card in-person, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially with the "declared value" aspect of PSA grading.

Thank you

Rich

I would 100% put this in a SGC slab. SGC will reward better centered cards, front and back, and it might grade higher with the nice eye-appeal! Check out the prices out PSA/SGC for grades between 4 and 6, they are about the same. The only way I would send to PSA is if it could grade 7 or higher, which this card won't.

Is there a reason for using PSA? SGC is cheaper at $15, MUCH quicker TAT, and you will get the same ROI for this card.

I think a 4 based on upper left (front) and lower right (front). Surface near the corner looks a bit damaged, so I am guessing the corner flaws are worse than the shape would indicate. Shape-wise, looks like a 5.

I just got a vintage card back from PSA graded a 4 that I cracked out of an SGC 6 holder, so you really never know for sure.

That upper left corner worries me as well. Without the card in hand, we are just giving a wild guess. I would say somewhere between a 4 and 5.5. I think this is a SGC card since the centering is appreciated by their graders. PSA will see that left corner and kill the grade.

Whatever grade PSA assigns, it will be high end for the grade due to the rock solid fabulous centering typically extremely tough with this card.

To me the corners on the front look soft, but the corners on the back look sharp without any chipping. Might just be the resolution of the photo.

Having the card in a penny saver doesn't help as well. It looks like corner damage, but could be a crease in the penny sleeve. It is real hard to pre-grade cards through images.
