That Topps one looks good once again, did multiple cases last year and may do that again this year. Hopefully Panini has a real redemption program this year. Last year I didn't buy a single box the list was so bad.

Anybody do Leaf or TriStar before? Never done any of their redemption programs and wondering how it is. I always avoided Leaf in particular given the known scams in the past of employees taking the best cards for themselves

I usually do the Tristar one, but this years sounds a little different in it sounds like you get an entry into a drawing for a prize...

Previous years, they had you select a color bag on the wall and inside might have been packs, or sealed product or supplies, auto'ed 8x10 or bigger, etc...

I guess I'll have to see for myself as to what people are getting from Trisatr this year

The sheet says that you get a Tristar bag and an entry into a drawing.

Did Tristar last year. You open the package and they give you a drawing ticket then they draw 5 or 6 names every hour. Only catch is you have to be present and the tickets get reset each day. If you win they have 6 treasure chests and you pick which one you want. The chest has a ticket inside which says what you win.

I miss when TriStar had that special "National only" multi-sport memorabilia for about $100, then you could parlay it into a grab bag.

ok, yeah, previously, you would just pick a bag and inside was your extra items, coulda been cards, supplies, memorabilia, etc

I miss the National envelopes that either had a signed 8x10 or a redemption for an item

How does this all work with Topps for example, if I buy a chrome baseball hobby jumbo, i get a baseball sliver pack, or is it random what sport you get?

They only have 1 type of pack for redemptions, which is a silver pack a lot like the box topper pack you get with hobby/jumbo boxes. Easiest way to understand what these packs are is to watch a video on youtube of somebody opening the national packs from last year

The part I'm unsure of for Topps this year is if different boxes have different values. For example, does buying a hobby get you 1 pack but a hobby jumbo gets you 2. I enjoy the game of figuring out best value case breaks to do based on that.

I’ve heard some boxes require multiple boxes per pack this year, so may be a shorter run or higher cost per pack

I think they are going to include series 1 blaster boxes at a 4 box to 1 pack ratio. Everything else is going to be the normal rate for redemptions.

I wonder if Topps will once again allow redemptions for boxes purchased anywhere, National or not, or if they'll go back to that program from a few years back where you had to buy only from dealers or corporate booths that had the stickers on the boxes?

From the information we have, only the university promo packs will require purchase from on the floor dealers and those are limited to blowout & D&A

I forget, but which day did Topps start have packs available last national? I know Panini had set times, but topps seem to be available for a longer period.

Topps has had packs available on Wednesday. Would expect the same for this year.

Topps will start their redemption on Wednesday when general admission gets to enter and will run it until they run out of their allocation of packs for the day. Sometimes that's all day, sometimes you only get a chance to go through the line once. Last year they ran out of packs early on Sunday.

So one could bring in sealed boxes of eligible products from outside the convention and redeem those for silver packs but not university promos?

If, and its a big if, they run it the same way this year as the last couple of years. For all we know we show up and the big dealers will have topps stickers again that will have to go on the boxes.

That said, I am bringing a couple of cases of series 2 for promo packs. Also have many cases preordered (to be picked up at the convention) from one of the big dealers.

I would not bank on that as it has not been that way before - take a gamble if you want!

Except it was that way the last 2 years.

I was in Chicago in 2021, I had to have a yellow coupon from one of the big sellers for Topps redemptions.

Panini, UD, Leaf or Tristar you could buy anywhere.

I'm not claiming one way or another this year, just knowing what has happened previously there is always a chance they will try to push transactions through certain channels.
