Does this 79 Topps Gretzky look under graded?

I thought this card was a lock for a 9. You won't find a better image and better surfaces in any grade. is it worth cracking and resubmitting?

Great card! I’d enjoy it as an 8.5. Little touches on the corners and PSA pop control probably gonna make it tough to bump. Cracking out risks coming back an 8 so probably doesn’t warrant the risk.

Be happy with the 8.5. It looks very fairly graded.

What is the mark is on the upper left back corner? Looks like a pen mark/indentation.

It’s just one of those darker colored parts of the grain of the card stock. Not an indentation or mark from anything external like a pen

When I submitted this card I actually thought it had an outside shot at a PSA 10. It’s as nice or nicer (definitely in terms of the surface) than both of my two PSA 9s of this card. Centering/eye appeal seems to be the thing graders care about these days more than anything else

That PSA 10 with the cert starting with a 0 might be an 8 if graded today with all of that snow
