Default 3 new releases confirmed to drop in next month

21-22 SPx on 3/29
22-23 Series 2 on 4/5
21-22 SPA on 4/12

(and 22-23 Synergy on 4/26)

S2 and SPA seem the "musts" - will be interesting to see how everyone figures out how to allocated their limited funds across so many releases. Guessing SPx and Synergy will be available at good prices in a month or two

The other thing on SPA that will be key is price. 21-22 seems a better depth year than 20-21, but a bit .. lacking .. at the top. SP Legendary Signatures @ $200 USD seems the high end of the "right price" - not sure the 21-22 class can support $250+. Honestly not even sure who would be the 'case hits' this year who'd get $300+ on their FWA - obviously Caufield and Zegras but the other guys who'd have filled that spot last year (Raymond, Seider, etc) are only having good years.

Prices cater to breakers versus individual collectors. Until that changes prices for everything will be high.

Dawson Mercer will push $300.

For SPA FWA I don't think there will be anybody but Caufield going for 500+, but there will be about a dozen guys fetching 100+ and a handful more at 25-100. IMO if it's gonna be around 250 per box with 2 autos per (1 FWA + one add'l) then there could be some solid value on a case; individual boxes will always be the risk they are.
Hard pass on SPx and Synergy and since I don't plan on chasing anyone in it I'll wait for prices to soften on S2 later in the year.

On SPA last year, it was so dependent on the case hit given that 3/4 of the FWA's were $10 or less. It will definitely be interesting to see how the depth plays out vs a class heavy at the top. The other thing hopefully they fix vs 20-21 is there were a ton of surface dimples - had many cards afflicted with them

Mercer will be interesting because his emergence is so recent, you'd guess he's not going to be one they position as a 'case hit'.

Until these products re-align with the high-end young prospects' rookie years there will continue to be less value and excitement with buying boxes.
It's getting a little better now but for the last couple of years (Hello The Cup) collectors already have a pretty good idea who will be a hobby main stay and who will most likely become an AHL/KHL scrub when 'new' releases hit the market.

I believe if he continue to perform with the playoffs looming, his prices will be higher than some of the known names that did not make the playoffs. I will be making some off season plays on some sleepers.

Even if Mercer was a case-hit level FWA, that would be a very disappointing case hit. Long-term, he's the 3C on a good team with plenty of mouths to feed. Not exactly the makings of a hobby star

2022-23 Series 2, what does Slafkovsky's YG sell for? Do Habs even care about this guy anymore or just moved onto the Bedard lottery?

This. He’s a good flipper for some groceries and gasoline.

Surely you jest. There are no ulterior motives in the Hockey Forum.

Also not related to my Mercer brain fart, but it’s not hard to tell those who don’t buy in early on a player. Lol

Meh....Upper Deck has fallen into the trap of releasing too many virtually identical products.....

Let me know when they start releasing high-quality sets with terrific HOF content again (like 07-08 Chronology, for example).

Seriously? He was the #1 overall pick last year.
Yeah, the Habs don't care about him anymore and should ship him out ASAP.

I'll pre-buy any you pull at $20 if you think people aren't going to care about his YG. Great deal for you IMO.

I guess if you're going to release 3 products so close...make them products that people actually want/will sell.

Don't think anyone is buying Synergy..let alone after spending so much on the other 3.

It's a 20/21 product being released two and half years late.....

You get 73 base cards per $200+ box with a 300-card base checklist filled with journeymen (all the stars/HOFers are SP's)...

So set builders are totally priced out.....

Once they hit epack, set builders will no longer be priced out.
