Default 2000's Cleveland PC Showcase

I've been taking some group pics of my Cleveland PC in lieu of a formal inventory so figured I'd share my progress. I'm a team collector but definitely play favorites. The below 5 guys are my primary targets from the 2000's Indians teams: Grady Sizemore, CC Sabathia, Victor Martinez, Cliff Lee and Travis Hafner. I go after select Autographs and Game Used cards of them.

The 2000's were interesting times in Cleveland as the team transitioned from the great 90's teams to a rebuilding franchise under new ownership and then eventually a really exciting young team. The rebuild was rough though, I remember going to a game in the early 2000's featuring an outfield made up of Bruce Aven, Chris Magruder and Jolbert Cabrera. That was a bit a of a drop off from Manny, Belle and Lofton lol.

The 2000's was also an interesting time for cards when there was competition to go with the loads of production. There's so many cool card designs from the era and I'm always happy to capture some of those with a cheap Hafner or VMart pick up. 2008 was probably about the time I started my current Cleveland collection.

Rambling aside, wall of photos below! I'll split up the players into different comments below.

What an absurdly fun collection, especially the Sizemore stuff.

Early 2000s... ah, sweet sweet memories, chasing the players between practice fields and the weight room and the driveway into the player lot at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven FL from '93-'08.

So many IP autos both Tribe and visitors, felt like if I didn't get 30 or more in a day it was a fail.

Love seeing your Wahoo faves, definitely valued high for nostalgia over dollars, but it's the team we loved and certainly was cheaper to collect CLE than other teams, so there was always that benefit.

Seeing all those CC cards you have, tkraft24, I will always have the stand out memory of the time following a spring season ticket reception at Cypress Gardens, CC was with his family and he was pushing a stroller around the park after dinner and most of his family going on rides. At one point he was "alone" for a moment and he signed a dozen or so cards for me and had no issue at all. Time before good cellphones or would be have been a great pic getting him on the same ride as I was on!

Well done, OP!!!!

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. It’s been a lot of fun building the collection and I still enjoy adding to it after all these years.

With the IP autographs, I actually didn’t get a single one them in person. Many of the early CC’s in particular came from a single collection that was pulled out of storage. I probably had 90% of the autos authenticated/slabbed myself. It’s been much cheaper to find raw copies and save up for specials or group submissions.

Awesome collection. Those mid-2000s Tribe teams were a ton of fun.

Very nice! I own the 2005 Donruss Classics Platinum 1/1 V. Martinez, Cliff Lee and T. Hafner Significant Signatures, the 2005 Platinum V. Martinez Timeless Tributes, and the 2004 Classics Platinum Significant Signatures V. Martinez and T. Hafner, in case they're on your list of cards you're watching for. Not selling now, but if I ever decide to I will let you know. I grew up in Cleveland and was once an usher at Municipal Stadium.

I had these separate from my player collections since they have multiple Cleveland players on the same card. Here's all the multi-player issues of the players noted earlier.

MULTI-PLAYER

Nice, I don't have any set cards I'm looking for really...just rarer stuff that looks cool and those certainly sound like they fit the bill.

That's true but luckily for me,I started early. Wouldn't be able to afford many of my cards at today's prices. Love looking at your stuff though so keep it going.

Awesome stuff? What are the details on the CC Sabathia Topps Tier One 1999 Topps throwback card? Almost looks like today's clearly authentic type of acetate?

Hey thanks! The Sabathia acetate is an insert from 2012 Topps Tier One: Clear Rookie Reprint Autographs. Great set.

Tom,

Being a team collector myself, I can boldly state that you have the greatest team PC of all time. I've always compared my team collection to yours, but honestly you blow me out of the water on sheer content (and awesomeness)!
