I'll start.
It's 1988, i am 12, living in Los Angeles. Game 1, 1988 World Series, Kirb Gibson limps to the plate, bottom of the 9th down 4-3 facing the dominant Eckersley. Well, you know the story. I still can't believe that happened to this day. |

As memorable as that moment was for some reason the Scoscia HR off Gooden in the LCS is what I remember most.

The 1989 World Series. That earthquake was an experience I will never forget as long as I live. Just miles from the epicenter, it was unreal how intense the earthquake felt and how many aftershocks arrived in the following days.

I went to Cal Ripkens last game. I will never forget the crowd chanting hoping Brady Anderson got on base so cal could bat one last time!

Since it says sporting event, I’ll go with either the 1999 Rose Bowl or watching Melvin Gordon break the single game college rushing record on only 25 carries over 3 quarters. I also saw Philip Humber (who?) throw a perfect game in Seattle.
Was present at all these games. Last edited by Badgers0821; 02-13-2023 at 09:36 PM. |

That was the first baseball game I ever saw. Needless to say, seeing my normally stoic Dad jumping up and screaming in the living room when Gibson hit the homer was memorable too, lol.

2001 Luis Gonzalez’s World Series walk off hit. Not a fan of either team, but that moment will always stick with me.

Jordan’s 63 against the Celtics.
Should add 12/27/86 - Pacers at Bulls, sitting right next to the tunnel the Pacers walked through. Jordan put up 44, Oakley had 13 rebounds and 15 assists. It isn’t the forgetting that is the hard part, it is the remembering. Doug Flutie’s Hail Mary against U of Miami. Mookie and Buckner in 86 WS. First MLB game Angels at Tigers, Rusty Staub fouled a ball back that stuck in the net.

Also this is pushing the definition of "childhood" but when Tiger Woods won his first master's, it felt like every single person in America was watching.

George Brett Pine Tar Incident game, I watched every baseball game I could get back then as a kid and will never forget that one lol. It was on local TV not live in person. Also the Mets 1986 World Series Bill Buckner through the wickets. Was a big Royals fan and a Mets fan back then so got back to back World Series Championships! I was running and screaming around the house when they won that game.

'94 Northridge was the only earthquake that ever truly scared the $$%^#&## out of me growing up....and I too, vividly remember the '89 quake, though I was too far away in LA to be impacted.

In person watching Matt Young pitch a no hitter and lose. Seeing MJ in person not a huge game or anything but was still great. Got to chat at him for a few minutes at halftime.
As a Indians/Guardians fan there some great moments at the Jake that I saw in person as a young guy. Rajai Davis home run in game 7

Whew. It was a doozy.
My single-mom who worked multiple jobs borrowed the family Delta ‘88 to take me to my first MLB game in 2000 - I was 13. Reds v. Cards / Junior v. Big Mac. Only one problem, the Kid was not in the lineup on this particular afternoon. So after what should’ve been a 3 hour drive to St. Louis (car troubles added an hour or two two), I was pretty dejected to hear the lineups announced on the radio as we managed to find a parking spot near old Busch. Fortunately, JD Drew homered, the Birds won, and most importantly Griffey came in late in the game. But the Manila Oldsmobile barely got us back home. I’d been to probably 100 MiLB games before this, but nothing compared to the experience of my first big league park! |

Bills vs Oilers. Biggest comeback victory at the time and they did it with Frank Reich at QB after Jim Kelly got injured.

Third Bulls title in 1993. I was 11 and I think I just appreciated / enjoyed it more than the first two being a little older than when I was 9 and 10. There was just something really fun about that one. I remember during the celebration Bulls players were pouring champagne on Johnny Red Kerr and my dad was on his feet pointing at the TV and yelling "IT'S JOHNNY RED KERR!!! IT'S JOHNNY RED KERR!!!" One of those memory burns that I'll never forget.

1980 Kardiac Kids - Green Bay Packers @ Cleveland Browns, NFL MVP Brian Sipe throws the game winning touchdown pass to Dave Logan with seconds remaining. Good times.
