I picked this card up as a gift for a relative who is a descendant of Eddie Burns.
I don't have it in hand yet, but it looks like a nice vintage in good shape. Note: Vintage baseball is not my thing. Centering is off a bit, especially the back. It seems to be in good enough shape to receive a number grade. Question: Would it be advisable to submit this card now for a number grade vs authentic to help relatives down the line to determine its value years from now? Or, leave it as is? I kinda think about this with the raw cards in my pc also. My wife tells me that I will go to the afterlife someday (I still don't believe her). I don't want my progeny to get ripped off possibly. Thanks.

SGC likely deemed this card trimmed before putting it in the A (Authentic) holder. More recently, they have started noting the alterations on the flip. Contact them and see what their grade notes said.

Quick response from SGC, my underline:
Good morning, Thanks for reaching out. We appreciate your support. We do not currently have notes that explain why cards receive the particular grades/designations that they do, however, we do see the value in providing that information. In general, cards can receive the authentic ("A") designation for a variety of reasons such as a failure to meet our minimum sizing requirement, the cards may have come miscut from the manufacturer, or the cards may show one or more signs of being altered and therefore, are no longer in their original state. There are also instances in which customers request their cards to be encapsulated as “authentic” even if they qualify for a numeric grade. It is what it is. I can see that it could be trimmed on front left, which would make back right off even more. I still like the card. A piece of history for peeps down the line.

It looks like the same seller had several cards from this set, with a few having an "A" designation. They all appear to be trimmed on the same side.

SGC's new "A" will tell you what is wrong with it on the label. Unfortunately the old slabs can be anything from a factory miscut to a trimmed card. In this instance I would assume trimmed unfortunately.
