Default BGS Results

Got my BGS order returned yesterday. Wanted to do a test run with BGS after being a long time customer. They fell pretty far behind, but seems like they are about caught up. Heard they’ve been more strict lately. Had the collectors special at 22$ a card, so I got the cards in about 50 days, instead of the 60 day limit. Only 10 cards, as the price is still a little high.

I’m almost certain the inner sleeve is much clearer. A much needed improvement! Happy with the Cade auto to /25. Expected a 9 grade on the auto. So they just grade the auto, but don’t put it on the card if it’s a 9.

The Yao Ming auto I’ve been sitting on for 20 years. Finally broke it out of the sealed case. 9/10 seems very fair. Had a chance to gem.

The Cade Lava a little disappointed in. The surface flaw is quite minor, so kinda thought it would knock it down to a 9/9.5 for surface. Upon quick inspection I doubt they’d catch it, but they did.

The Lamelo fractal I thought was my best looking copy, and I had 2 others PSA 10. May crack this one.

Thought the Kobe prizm would do better. Corners seem fine to me. 9 on corners at worst imo, but is what it is.

The Kobe Upper Deck is another one I’ve had sitting around forever so figured I’d slab. 9 mint is fair.

The three Cades (Noir & Immaculate) thought these had a chance at 9’s, but probably more so 8.5’s. Thought maybe one would 9, but oh well.

Overall pretty good experience. The website still needs work, as they transition, but did what they said they would do, within the timeframe. Cards were logged in quickly, as Customer service was responsive. Ideally a little more automated in the future. They may be grading slightly tougher, but I think it’s still pretty fair. I’d rather have a BGS 9 that’s accurately graded, than a 10 that’s really a 8.

I didn’t get any 8’s but hear they are doing silver labels for everything. Paid 22$ each for these, so probably about broke even with the 2 gem’s. Didn’t crush it by any means. Actually pretty bad compared of other submissions. Most of these are staying in the collection anyways.

I may hold a bit on the 18$ special now. Mostly just have some bulk PC stuff (topps finest) I want in a BGS slab. I have a handful of Autos I’m not sure if I want to go PSA or BGS. Next sub going out is to CSG with a decent amount of 90’s inserts.

Thanks! I collected a ton in 2002, spent too much money, and took a hiatus for about 10 years. In retrospect, should have waited 1 more year for Lebron’s rookies.

Love the old school Kobe jersey

Thanks!! Never thought about grading it until the last year or two, with all the non-associated jerseys coming out. Figured the older game worn stuff is more sought after.
