Default Another Michael Jordan Fleer #57 Rookie Card Thread

Hi All,

First time posting!.. Long time Collector of BGS/PSA Basketball Cards.

However need some help from other collectors who may have more experience.

Does anyone here know much about the following blemish on the back of Michael Jordan Fleer #57 Rookie Card

I have been trying to find some information in regards to it, but cannot find anything that confirms it is from a batch of prints and not a fake...

I have seen it on many other MJ RC, most are BGS/PSA 8 still, i thought a mark like that would significantly hurt the grading... maybe a 6 to 6.5

From what I know the fish eye is a good sign of it being a legitimate Rc. As in regards to grading I’m not sure how much is taken in consideration as it’s more of a factory flaw. I have a PSA 8 with a fish eye floating on the front near his name.

Fisheye, print hickey, printing bubble.
Could be real, could be fake. But doesn't look like it's reprinted. Just depends on the technology used to make a reprint.

The picture looks diamond cut. Probably a better photo and it would grade better.

I have a PSA 9 with one in the same location as your photo

I’ve got an SGC 8.5 with one in that exact location as well. I’ve seen it on several cards graded in the 8-9 range.

Because they aren't re-grading the card during a reholder, unless the case was cracked or damaged over the surface of the card.

Ignoring the heavy staining, which by definition would prevent the assigned 10 grade, this specific copy was supposedly flagged for review (re-grading) with a compromised holder and broken piece of plastic on the surface.

it's a common fish-eye location on these

oh this one is well-known alright, it looks like a coffee stain and still PSA stands behind it, reholder and all. WE can refer to it as the coffee-stained PSA 10 MJ from here on out and everyone will know what is being referred to

Nat doesn't give a #@#@#@#@

it isn't a regrade thing, but a grading guarantee thing.

clearly this piece of crap doesn't belong in a psa 10 holder

alternatively we could say that it does belong in a psa 10 holder, and so much for psa's cred

Guess I had forgotten about this specific one.

Fish Eye!.. Wow! Now I know what it is called, I have found lots more information! (some mention on this forum)

I am still hesitant on pulling the trigger on this one!.. the "fish eye" printing issue should be a bigger factor in grading.. (my opinion only.... 6-6.5)

There is PSA 8 I have been watching, like all cards, it has come down in price. I have seen it personally, (first time holding a MJ RC).

It checked all boxes elsewhere, it passes all the "how to detect a fake". Just the fish eye thingy stopped me from parting with my money.

@RogerGodahell what do you mean by Diamond Cut?

Not sure on the etiquette on this forum about posting links to ebay listing etc, but it is still up on there...

Will keep this post update if I pull the trigger!

The fish eye at that exact spot is super common and does very little to detract from the grade. I've had PSA 8s and 9s that had it and seen plenty of 9s with it too. You almost want to see it given that it's a sign of a real copy unless if some counterfeiter is smart enough add that flaw too, which i doubt.

1986 Fleer is almost never diamond cut from my experience. 1986 Fleer Sticker on the flip side, almost all of them are and it's tough to find one WITHOUT it.

Some have a very slight diamond cut, you have to be OCD to notice. Left border slightly narrower (right slightly wider) at the top iirc
