Whew, didn't realize I wanted him to stay until he was a Giant for that short period of time. Now to get some pitching.....maybe back that up with Swanson or Correa?

I was beginning to think $400 million was the magic number. It was the "bend over and take it number". I guess the Giants tapped out at $360m and the Yankees weren't forced to go any higher.

It's a crap ton of money and years for someone turning 31 in the spring and all but statistically impossible not to regress. But he was always going to get this ridiculous of a deal, and someone was always going to give it to him. It's the same thing with the contract that Judge will eventually get. All indications are someone is going to give him 9 years and it'll likely end up over $35 million per year. There's almost no way Judge can possibly live up to that type of deal, and it's probably going to look bad in 4-5 years when he's likely going to start going downhill. But there's no doubt he's going to get that type of contract, and I'm not even saying he doesn't deserve it. That's just how contracts work for ultra high end free agents. You rarely get "deals" on these types of players. Just the way it works. Why are we always so surprised or upset when the latest guy signs for so much?

I feel like a lot of Yankees fans are most satisfied with the Yankees spending the big money needed to keep Judge -- not necessarily that Judge is staying a true Yankee long term.

Once Judge struggles or fails to live up to his contract, he's going to hear it from fans. That doesn't show appreciation of a player; that shows entitlement.

Because as we all know, players will go through struggles and often age poorly.
