USPS Msg - ALERT MID USER NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED

I'm sure as soon as I post this my card will show up, but it's been
a week with no tracking info on the USPS website on an EBAY buy.

I contacted seller, they say it is just a glitch in USPS reporting.

Does anyone know what this means exactly? Google wasn't much help.

Is the package stuck is USPS limbo or is it still on its way?

Thanks for any help.

Got the same message from a Greg Morris eBay shipment. Hasn’t moved since 10/24.

Looks like you have the same issue from the same seller. Odd.

ALERT MID USER NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED
-This is generated when the PIC MID does not exist in PTR's customer reference data.

Not really sure what all these terms mean, but MID is the Mail Identifier part of barcoded mail signifying the business/mailing agent (I think?). Possibly something wonky going on with the barcode, or just a glitch on the USPS tracking/ebay end. At the least I would enter the tracking number they give you on the actual USPS site, not just go by ebay, if you havent done this.

I also got the same message on the same date for a GM purchase. Mine was updated later in the day: "Shipment Received/Acceptance Pending." It got updated today that it was departing from USPS Regional Facility.

One of the good things about buying from a reputable seller is that you know you'll be covered in the end, if something does happen. I wouldn't sweat it coming from GM.

Checked USPS site earlier today, sure enough after I posted the original question post, USPS site shows a change this afternoon. See attached.

They state updated 5:10am today, not so from what I saw online. Seems
my buy is on its way to me.

Patience is a virtue, I suppose I need to be more virtuous.

This is my local distribution center where I take all of my packages for drop off; they've done some weird stuff before but glad to see it made it its way through the system.
