Heritage vs Archives baseball?
I believe that if only 1 set had to exist I would choose Archives because it seems like more of a fun product with the different year designs... Which do you prefer? |

Archives jumped the shark in 2020. That was one awful release. It would be ok at $80-90 a hobby box but now it’s overpriced and not so much fun. Not having a Special subset really hurts too. Past releases had Heavy Metal, Sandlot, Major League, Will Ferrell, etc. Nothing this year.
Anyway 2020 was the last year for me. I still like building a Heritage set, but no way I’m preordering. I’ll wait in 2023 until it drops in price to buy. |

I’m a set builder by nature and prefer Heritage for that reason. The Archives set feels a little chaotic. I do like picking up Archives cards for my PC guys since they have the range of designs.

Heritage is better IMO. I like the fact that all cards of a set for a year match each other and of course, we get the nostalgia of a past year.

I guess archives, I don’t like the fact they use multiple years in archives but heritage sucks imo. Archives Should just start with ‘52 design, use legends of the game (don’t pack it with crappy rookies), have a few parallels (no chrome), on-card autos, don’t use all backfield spring training photos like heritage does.
Combine the two ideas and you’d have a good product. Separate, they’re both just meh

Good question. For me, design can often impact how much I buy from year-to-year, as some designs I really like and others not so much. I was big into Archives the first few years, but not as much recently, although sometimes Archives will have an insert set I really like. Overall though, I’d probably have to lean towards Heritage, because of the continuity of each set and from year-to-year.

I love Heritage myself, but this is the last year I'll be putting the set together. Had I not already put the low number series together, I wouldn't even bother with High Series.
The fun part, once we get a little bit further into the years, Heritage will become Archives.... |

Heritage and its not close. Archives is probably best as something that is released every 5 years or so

Heritage would be my choice...
- Fun to put the set together - Variations- Tough to pull and rookie + stars hold value - Autographs are great...Red inks are awesome - Chromes are cool - Interesting coin cards and some others - HHN for new rookies Too bad they are overpriced now. Spend $85 to not complete the set, get a napkin patch of Zach Wheeler and 4 SPs that are worth $1 after 2 weeks. No thanks. Buy the base set on Ebay for $40. |

Heritage for me. Because I appreciate a consistent set design. Archives is all over the place when it comes to this.

Pretty much my feelings. I love building Heritage sets, absolutely no interest in building a Archives set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both....they're different products, and therefore appeal to collectors for different reasons.
Heritage has more "consistency" throughout the product by virtue of using a single design, but the flipside is that design-wise it's one and done.....you're never going to see today's players in a 50's/60's design in Heritage. Whereas Archives, by choosing designs from different decades, offers the possibility of seeing players in designs Heritage has already done. And Archives also includes retired HOFers, which Heritage does not. I like both, but the box prices has gotten a bit high.....I liked paying $60-70 a box for them. |

Heritage. This is like asking what do you think is better, an burned potato or a Craftsman model 1019 Laboratory Edition Signature Series torque wrench?

Heritage for set building and a more extensive modern day checklist.
Archives for “what if” cards packed with star names. Both for on-card autos with nice designs. Both for a fun, reasonably priced break. Neither to get rich on. |

This is a great question, if I was forced to discontinue one or the other I would say keep Heritage and end Archives...but I do like both and maybe a little more fun opening the Archives. Heritage feels like a more important release so wouldn't want to see it end.
