I am a sucker for post-apocalyptic shows so I'll definitely be giving this one a try. I'm just hoping it is nothing like the wretched walking dead franchise.

A solid video game adaptation which isn't saying much. So far the characters are behaving as stupidly as in the moronic 28 Week Later. It also seems like the show is straining to be different from TWD, yet somehow ends up less compelling than a typical episode of Fear the Walking Dead. There also isn't enough story to fill the pilot's hour plus running time which felt interminable.

And an even dumber title over than the Mordor silliness in Rings of Power. Apparently the producers aren't sure the audience can add 20 years to 2003 to make 2023.

Last night's episode was originally two episodes, but HBO execs had them tighten the pair up and merge it into one as they felt there wasn't enough to hook the viewer in the first episode as it was originally intended. That's probably why there are only 9 episodes this season as opposed to the usual 10 for an HBO "prestige" series.

I thought it was pretty good. The idea that it's a fungus instead of a virus is a different jumping off point, at least.

The vast majority of people watching this have never played the videogame, so it will be funny when those who have played it start complaining about any changes made the source material as if anyone other than their fellow gamers would care. There will certainly be plenty. To pad this thing out, the plan is to delve into the experiences of many characters other than the main two. In a story that could certainly be told in 1-2 seasons, max, I'm sure they're looking for 5-6.

I never played the games and watched the show and liked it.

Don't really know how it compares to Walking Dead since I didn't see that.

I’ve played both games and LOVED them!

Just to give everyone a heads up who HAVEN’T played the game. The game starts out basically when Sarah gives Joel the watch, so everything before that isn’t in the actual game.

I really enjoyed it and I’m excited to see the rest of the episodes!

Just caught episode 1, thought it was great. I loved how some things were basically verbatim from the games, even down to camera angles, then some other stuff was brand new. Looking forward to the next episodes for sure

I loved it. Twitter is such a cess pool. Some people are saying it's too close to the game. Those same people refuse to be happy. They'll complain something strays too far from a game while others are too close. I honestly could have had the whole episode just dedicated to Joel and his daughter as we see the outbreak start to give a bit more color than the game does, but this was really good. Had my anxiety up the whole first half even though I knew what was coming.

I will say after watching that the show holds pretty close to the game.

Just finished the first episode. Loved it. I am a big fan of the games, and this is a promising start to what I hope is a big-ticket franchise. Hopefully they don't eff up things.

On a side note, while cleaning out the closet the other day, I discovered these beauties in a comic storage long box. Sealed since the day I purchased them in 2013, never read.

Quick time jump of 20 years was a little surprising.

Loved her in Mindhunter.

I have rewatched the opening interview a few times and it's amazing how well it's able to really give you a sense of dread, especially if never played the game. It lays things out in a clever way and I like how the interviewer and audience just sit there in stunned silence when he's done talking.
