Default Is there a bigger contract criminal than Kenny Golladay?

Signed a 4-year, $72M contract before 2021, with $28M guaranteed at signing

2021 - Cap hit $4.47M

2022 - Cap hit $21.15M (dead cap number now is $31M)

2023 - Cap hit $21.4M

2024 - Cap hit $21.4M

Stats

2021 - 37 catches, 521 yards, ZERO touchdowns
2022 - 2 catches, 22 yards, played only 2 snaps in Week 2 and has publicly now complained about his playing time

Are there any other absolute contract criminals that rival this dumpster fire of a player

There were many Lions fans that wanted to resign him. I liked him as a player at the time, but the price tag was too high. Turns out that was a good decision to let him walk. Injuries seem to have really killed his game.

When I saw him on the field in preseason it just looked like he didn’t give a crap. There was a play that could have been a td and he just didn’t try. He’s mailing it in and just collecting checks.

Current or all-time? The Brock Osweiler 2015 deal that saw him also get $72M but with $37M guaranteed was pretty bad. Bad enough for him to be a salary dump.

The Bears trading for Rick Mirer, signing him to a 3-year, $11.4M deal with $2.5M in guaranteed money in 1997 (when the salary cap was $41.5M) only to start 3 games, get relegated to 3rd string, then released in 1998 was very bad.

Giving Golladay that contract was criminal stupidity by the Giants org. I don't blame the player for taking it.

I remember when they made the golloday signing complaining to my wife that it made no sense. And they they draft Toney, and it made even less sense.

Biggest thief was Jamarcus Russell... Fatboy was not as talented or as dedicated as they would have liked him to be.

The Gruden contract has to rank up there, but if we’re talking purely players, the Javon Walker deal was awful for the Broncos.

In my entire life, I have never seen a football player give less effort on the field on a daily basis. This guy is the definition of mailing it in and I just have zero respect for him.

Explain your case on either of these ones. Daniel has gotten paid to be a backup, was never signed or expected to be a No. 1 quarterback. Whether he was overpaid for the job, he wasn't supposed to be a stud. Good on him for collecting checks and doing the job asked of him.

Bradford honestly may have gotten overpaid, but in no way was his career criminal, he just wasn't No. 1 overall talent.

I don't consider either of those to be what Golladay has done

Trey Lance comes to mind, not because of his contract but because of what we gave to move up in the draft to get him......
