Default Is $22 PSA bottom for bulk submissions?

Looking at resubmitting some of my CSG/SGC from my PC but waiting until their price hits bottom.

$22 will be the bottom more than likely until 2023.

I doubt it, I think we will see a lower rate before the end of the year. They are burning through $18 super fast and that is including what everyone was holding onto for over a year.

Yea, my $18 special is in assembly and I waited until the last day to get them in. Wonder if the next step is reintroduction of vouchers with CC memberships?

Not a chance with this crumbling economy. I’m looking for $15 or less before I sub again.

I think those who have a business of grading and flipping have sent the majority of their quality cards already and that will reduce the number of cards being submitted. Those who do it as more of a pastime and possible extra money, don’t have the volume needed to sustain the card load. On my when it becomes profitable for less than gem cards will the numbers jump again and that will require a price reduction. There are a over 1 million cards per month being graded between the 4 big companies. That is way too much volume.

This is my bet as well. Prices for the final product have really tanked. I'm talking 35% since November and 50% from peak. We are around early 2020 prices, right before the Pandemic Bump.

Pre-pandemic a decent current base paper RC would be about $30-40 in PSA 10, thats getting close to where they are now. But bulk grading back then was $10 or so.

$10-$12 bulk would be great for PC.

Seeing the real lack of uptick in grading action on these boards is leading me to believe that PSA will likely run another special between now and the end of the year. If I had to guess, $15 / card seems like a good starting point. This is keeping consistent with the squeezing every last dollar out until the bottom hits strategy PSA has been implementing on the reopening.

At some point next year, you will see the pre-March 2021 grading costs return permanently unless by some miracle card pricing returns to February 2021 levels.

They have to go lower … especially for 90’s cards. The bottom has fell out on a lot of cards, PSA 8-9’s of modern cards don’t sell that well right now and with PSA’s harsher grading, say if you’re grading a card from 1995 you’re hoping for a 9 most of time. I have many Kobe rookies, late 90’s cards I wanted to grade but PSA 8-9’s just don’t even cover cost of grading right now. If that’s the case for a guy like Kobe it’s literally the case for every other player unless it’s a rare or sought after card. Which people don’t have many of those to grade anyway.

In the same boat. I'm already building a stack in anticipation of a price drop. In fact, my membership ends at the end of Jan. I'm gonna need to see a price drop by then if I'm going to consider renewal.

Expect a price drop in the form of a special soon I think. Probably a Q4 special.

I've still got a stack waiting for $12-$15/card level(s). Something's gotta fill the stupid vaults these fools are all building, right?

PSA is waiting to see (and hoping) people will be submitting a lot of cards from recent releases (football, baseball Topps Chrome, etc.) to sustain them but if the expected/budgeted volume doesn't come in, there will be another "special" pricing sooner than later. Maybe some time next year, as the economy continues to tank, might PSA make a lower pricing permanent...doubt it though. Most bigger companies don't like to rollback to a previous price level...they enjoy inflation/the covid boom (which is now completely over) pushing prices up...so they'll only do "specials" to try to fool people into thinking they're getting a deal. It's a matter of who will cave first...submitters like you and I...or other TPGs. If one of the other grading companies start to lower their prices (as their volume have dropped since PSA opened up their bulk at 22) to try to steal business from PSA, then PSA will have to react. CSG dropping the minimum bulk ($15 a card) requirement from 50 to 25 cards on 8/31/22 is one indication. PSA then responded by reopening their bulk service at $22 on 9/8/22. How the economy is doing the next 4-8 months will affect everything.

Amazon should buy out or start a grading company and put all the Vaults and TPG out of business. Nothing can beat Amazon for vaulting/fulfillment and potential to expand and make a old business model better.

The current TPG should think about keeping the loyal customers happy.

No. $22 is way too expensive. $22 cannot be supported unless base card gems get back to the same multiplier they were a year ago, and base card demand gets back to creating the same value.

The drop will be progressive but should see a $15 or less special within the next few months, and $12 within a year.

$12 is probably about where grading should be for a sub $99 declared value level with PSA. Which is a declared value level they have played with before and considering how they like to scalp their customers for over 10% of declared value, this will likely come into play again.

Gut says $12 pre-1996 and $15 1996-present by Q2 2023. This would be in line with prices before the near doubling just prior to the shut down and is probably sustainable long term. I could see specials taking longer to materialize as they adjust to increased volume from lower prices unless their hand is forced by a competitor.

While I would love lower prices, everyone here just seems to think the pricing should go back to before based on the market.

Sadly a lot of things have gone up in the world. Manufacturing those slabs is not at the same price as it was back then.

Not suggesting they cant go lower, but dont think we will ever see $8 bulk again.

People abandon all sense of reality and awareness when it comes to grading.

Agreed. I'm thinking BEST CASE scenerio is a $15 bulk level and monthly or quarterly specials perhaps as low as $12 for very specific niches.

Because there are 5000 people that grade that won't use PSA at $1. It could be because of bad experience or the negative PSA sentiment that is being pushed by YouTubers being sponsored by SGC. 15,000 cards a week is a small percent of what PSA grades, so I just think SGC graders are their own community. Same thing with Tesla cars. Some people won't buy Tesla because of the FUD against the company and their hatred of the company. People will even buy a crappy alternative EV for the same price which only has the capability to use a crappy charging network. Hatred for brand names is a real thing.
