Saw this and appears PSA may be lowering prices come September with a 90 max turnaround time

That would be great

Interesting how that will affect liquidity given the current macro economic environment

I gotta think alot of base flippers have already left the building

But will be fun to submit my cards again. I haven't sent anything or renewed my membership since the 2020 base backlog

Will sure be nice getting cards returned within 90 days like the old days...

They also had another video together opening up a box of 98 Bowman's Best. It was cool to see how geeked out Nat was about opening packs. I miss pack odds

I hope the September price reduction happens because I am getting my hockey submission together and that would be perfect timing for the season. I am I. No rush to grade hockey at the $30 price point.

A maximum turnaround time would be great!

Still waiting on March 21 stuff...it is good to have a time set in your mind

Another vault - thank god. I have been waiting for a trustworthy company to get into the vaulting business, so I can send all my cards there to never be seen again.

the 90-day max turnaround time is down the road, not anytime soon from the sound of it.

That'll be interesting considering the two orders I sent a couple of weeks ago have a turnaround time that'll be around the same time as that.

We are on the same page

I too have been stockpiling rare 90s Hockey (especially Gretzkys) over the past 2 years during the mass produced Panini basketball base era. Been zig zaggin alot of great 90s hockey I could never find back in the pre-internet 90s over the past 2 years and can't wait to slab the PC at more reasonable tiers

Agreed too am remaining patient as alot of rare 90s hockey is still pretty cheap to grade (minimal upcharges in hockey unlike mega pumped modern basketball and football values)

Can't wait to see my rarer 90s hockey stuff in PSA slabs especially refractors that really pop in PSA slabs

Agreed with prior posts may be wishful thinking on 90 Day turnaround all depending on the backlog and PSAs current capacity

And he pulled a grail card for my PC. Jamison atomic bowman’s best performers. That card refernces a UNC/dook game that I attended in which Antawn absolutely destroyed the Dookies. I’ve been runner up for two auctions for that card.

Yeah baby. I have a ton of PC cards I am waiting to grade.

I can't wait to grade them and have them get sent directly to the vault so I can enjoy them digitally with my JPEG collection.

In my mind it looks like the vault under the casino in Ocean's Eleven, complete with a cart containing an extremely agile Asian man waiting for his opportunity. Or, sometimes I think of it like where Maxwell Smart entered Control Headquarters. Either way, I'm sure its some impenetrable barrier between you and your cards. Who wouldn't want that?

A $50 per card order is currently looking at an estimated 4-6+ month turnaround time if submitted today (it was 1 month back in May so there's a good chance it gets even longer as time goes on). There is simply no way we get 90 day turnaround time at the sub-$20 service level anytime soon. I wouldn't be shocked if it never happens honestly.

Nope. $30 Value orders in QA. At least one $18 order has popped already. Capacity is increasing exponentially.

Yeah, since the lower service levels were opened later they're flying. The $50 orders were doing the same thing the first couple of weeks as well (my first order was under a month TAT) but then everything slowed down and now my 2 $50 orders delivered at the end of May haven't even hit assembly yet. I'll be lucky to get under 4 months TAT on either of those. My order delivered on 7/17 hasn't even been entered into the system yet so with how much everything has slowed down I'll be surprised if that order is at my door before the end of 2022. The same thing will happen to the value orders soon enough and the slowdown will likely be significantly worse.

You can't "increase capacity exponentially" and still maintain product quality.

There just aren't that many people out there who can consistently grade cards accurately....and certainly not very many who want to do it 40 hours a week for whatever menial wages PSA offers.

And not to mention, hasn't the average grading time per card been cut in half due to the pandemic influx?

Even if I'm mistaken about that, your point still stands.

And I guess this leads to, if in doubt, 8 or 9.

What makes someone an expert grader? Is it a skill you’re born with or one you can cultivate through some sort of coursework, most likely offered at one of those phony colleges like ASU?

Or does it solely depend on who the submitter is?

I think it is less about massive capacity increases. That is probably done and flatlined. It is more about moving current capacity into new orders. The 800K per month of back log being graded needs to be refilled with current stuff. I am expecting them to still top out around 1 million per month (still an absolute crap ton) but it will be more and more of orders taken in at that National for example.

I am still bearish on PSA being able to keep 1 million a month going honestly. After all of the pent up demand is cycled through, I expect a dip in submissions. May take a 8 months to a year to get there. They will need to lower prices to keep demand high. I am still in the belief that grading will get real cheap again across all the graders. There is only so much stuff worth sending in and I don't see registry set collectors bringing in the submissions.
