Pokemon Go Cards Thoughts?

Just stopped at my local target today (which hasn't been stocked since release day which was last Friday), so a whole week and there was a ton of product on the shelves.

Picked up just a Radiant Eevee Collection box solely because of the promo to add to my collection.

Hit a Melmetal Vmax, a Mewtwo V-Star and a Radiant Blastoise.

Honestly looking at the checklist, feel like its a pretty underwhelming product considering it is a special release set and the first two kind of celebrate the phone game, don't think I will be opening up any more of it.

Anyone else have similar thoughts? Differences?

Haven't tried English packs

I am partial to Japanese packs. I do like that there is a holo hit in every pack.

Are English packs only available in ETB's and Promo boxes?

Agree that many of the hit cards are either Melmetal or Mew Two, which seems underwhelming given the breath of different base cards in the set. My kids are chasing the Ditto card, which can only be found if you find either the Bidoof, Numel or Spinarak reverse holos. They enjoy being able to peel the front of the card to reveal the Ditto. Also these cards seem somewhat rare as it took us about 50 packs to get a card we could peel.

I don’t know why they didn’t make a Radiant Pikachu or add more characters for the chase cards.

For English version, there are no booster boxes only ETBs and special set boxes like Eevee. Any different Japanese cards to chase? We have 2 boxes coming. Usually the Japanese set comes out before the English version so we buy a box to get the next set preview. It seems like this Pokémon Go set though came out at similar times between Japanese and English versions.

This set really caters to Pokemon Go players (understandably). If you don't play the game I can see why it might seem underwhelming

Heavy feature of pokemon that has been/are relevant in that game

The Mewtwo V Alt Art is the chase card, with the Gold Mewtwo VStar following behind that

You are guaranteed a ditto card in every box for Japanese booster boxes. I haven't peeled mine

The Radiant cards in Japanese pop a lot better than English. You get 1 of those per box as well

Keep in mind the Mewtwo alt art card is only available in the special boxes, not normal ones.

What special boxes? There are no booster boxes for the set. Pretty sure you can pull the card from packs in any of the SKUs. Never heard of a Pokemon release where they limited a card to a specific SKU.

I did about 70 packs so far. All in all, long odds for not a lot of amazing. I hit the mewtwo alt art, and a gold and veno and blast radiants as my best hits.
done opening and waiting on the eventual drop to get the last 18 cards I need for the set.

Sorry, Japanese version. There are two types of boxes. Normal and special edition.

This stuff is tough man. Or I'm super unlucky. I've opened 17 Exeggutor boxes, 20 tins, and 2 of the 6pack boxes. 120 packs in total.

No gold mewtwo, no rainbow mewtwo, no radiant charizard.

My daughter did pull the Mewtwo alt art early on which was nice. But have pulled 6-7 of each radiant blastoise and venusaur, but no zard.

Pulled 5 Melmetal rainbow, 2 dragonite rainbow, 3 trainer rainbow, and one gold trainer, but no gold or rainbow mewtwo.

We always like to open the product until we hit the card we like the most, but this has been tougher than hidden fates for us so far which is crazy to say.

I ripped a bunch with my two boys last weekend.

The youngest pulled the Radiant Charizard and regular from the same ETB pack too.

My son opened an ETB and a 4 pack box of some kind and hit a Professor's Research rainbow, Radiant Venusaur and Radiant Charizard. The rainbow and Charizard came out of an ETB.

This is so hilarious. I should just cut and past what you all do just to prove a point. If you cannot take it, dont do it. Really simple concept.

Have to go back to my shift , my new job cleaning the mess students and teachers make is horrible. I dont want to get fired, been working hard the last 2 weeks. First time i could use the Mcdonalds Wifi . Had to let my costco membership lapse. Wish i could flex like you and blend in with a forum OG group and fit in. Bravery by numbers is a thing nowadays. Me at 5'4'' 242 lbs is hard to get accepted in real life. It made me have a Napoleon complex and the need to get accepted into the online community.

You are right. I couldnt go to costco for 2 weeks. triggered. Been on yearly family vacation for the last 2 weeks. Sitting here again. waiting for the family to do the last minute shopping at amsterdam airport. (No costco for me in Netherlands and Fance) so no flexing .

Vintage Pokemon just got a huge boost in Japan. A PSA 10 no symbol was purchased for $500,000

Vintage is looking good in Japan.
