Haven’t really collected any baseball insert sets. What are you favorite ones that have a unique design that are just in general cool!

Probably any die-cut set

And what's your price range? Are you looking for a high-priced, difficult to complete insert set, or something lower-priced that is challenging but not impossible? |

Time period I would say anything from early 2000s thru now. I mean I do really enjoy the baseball era that I grew up with. Like Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Jeter. The steroid era I guess. As far as price I’m open to pretty much anything prob start with something a little cheaper, couple hundred for bigger names rookies. Don’t really care or not if the stuff is graded as long in good condition. Just in the mood to put some insert sets together.

How about a run at the late-90s or early-00s Ultra Diamond Producers sets? They look great, have all the names you want, and you have a choice between rarities depending on the year

I've been thinking of doing that one, but normally stay away from prospect-driven set building as ultimately the players in the set wind up 95% duds. The decent mix of vets in this though has me contemplating it.

If you like sets with a combination of HOFers and active players, I'd also point you towards 2008 & 2009 Goudey Sport Royalty, and well as the various Museum Canvas Collection insert sets. And even though they're not inserts, many of the high-end "hit-focused" products like Museum, Tribute, and Triple Thread have some great looking 100-card base sets which are challenging to complete, since people only got a couple of base cards per box. Have fun! |

I like them at random. There is never a shortage of new ones coming out. Some I can recall that I like / still slowly work on:
2011 Opening Day “Stadium Lights” 2013 Wrapper Redemption “Spring Fever” 2016 Update “3000 Hits Club” 2017? Opening Day “Bubble Trouble” 2018 Big League “Player Nicknames” Maybe 2022 Series One “Stars of MLB,” is growing on me with each pack. Maybe also 2021 Update “Black Gold” re-run too. |

2008 Heroes- pick a color of the parallels and stick to it. At one point, I was trying to collect everything- super overwhelming! Lol. Easiest one is the emerald /499.
Good luck!

2012 National Treasures All Decade is my favorite set of all time, but the nicknames one is cool too… as well as the commons set. Although I’m not 100% sure if these were the base or an insert. The All decade was an insert set. Last edited by CapeTownCards; 05-26-2022 at 01:13 AM. |

I collected back in the 90’s as a kid but returned a few years ago. The Donruss Elite series from 1991-93 is a nice challenge as it’s about 42 cards total including a few autos.
Another set is the 2021 Finest Flashback Gold Sp insert set. It’s all stars and HOF’ers from the 80’s and 90’s. It’s also serial numbered which will hopefully lead to having it hold its value. I feel with the over production of modern it’s wise to chase serial numbered if anything produced the last 5 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The most fun I ever had putting together an insert set:
2014 Bowman Platinum “Toolsy” die-cuts- I think there were 6 sets of 10 players- best power, hitting, fielding, arm and speed, and then 5-tool players. Although technically more of a parallel than an insert set, I loved the 2011 Topps Lineage set of 1975 mini’s. Basically the same as the 200-card base set, but on ‘75 mini cards. That was really hard to put together because there were only 1-2 per hobby box |

‘21 Bowman’s Best also had the Rookie Craftsmanship inserts. It’s only 18 cards, but when you line them up, they form 2 different puzzles, which look pretty cool. I’ve seen some people try to challenge themselves a little more by going for the atomic parallel version
