This isn't a set I'm interested in but I don't like the idea of two different versions with exclusive cards in each.

I really wish Rittenhouse would do away with incentives, archive box exclusives, UK exclusives, U.S exclusives, etc. Just put everything in packs and let the product sell itself based on it's own merits. I know I'd be buying cases here and there that way. But as it stands now, there is zero chance I'm buying a Rittenhouse case when there are so many of the top cards I have no chance of pulling out of a pack.

That's nothing new - almost every card set that has Hobby and Retail has exclusive cards to each version.

I completely agree with this. They put out that carrot of an amazing card, but you have to buy 5 cases to get it? That practice has turned me off to collecting a lot of their sets.

I guess if the UK version can be purchased easily by collectors in the US it doesn't really matter.

When they announced this title, I was extremely excited- finally some on card Doctor Who autos.

However, after seeing the product info, especially the price, I am thinking of passing and just picking up a few of the autos I want.

Exclusive autos in the US version, exclusive autos in the UK version, exclusive autos in the Archive Box (probably different exclusives in the US Archive Box and the UK Archive Box). Two different exclusive parallels in each version. It's gotten way out of hand.

I think they are going way overboard, but that's just my opinion.

I haven't seen the price, what is it?

I was really excited when I heard Rittenhouse secured the license, but little hesitant now.

Unless the price was a mistake, cost is a little over 1.5 times what a normal release is/was.

I know premium releases are higher in cost, but this doesn't seem like a premium release- and it is costing more than they did.

Box price listed as $199.99 on Rittenhouse's site. Yikes.

Anyone have comparison prices for other recent or upcoming sets for sale directly from Rittenhouse? All the ones I looked at are sold out at the box and case level. $199.99 for a box seems very high. I'm pretty sure Women of Star Trek: Art & Images was well under $100 per box direct from Rittenhouse.

Game of Thrones anniversary series 2 was 169.99, series 1 I think was the same. This will be less that 200 on BO, still pricey though.

When you say exclusive autos in each version are you talking about the pullable autos or the Case incentives? If you mean the pullable autos then do you already have a list of the differences?

Also according to the blowout info there are 4 autos per box, as opposed to GOT which had two. I assume this is why there is a price difference. Although 4 autos are a lot unless the auto list is huge.

Anyway I am still undecided about this set.

I believe it is pullable autos.
There is no list of autos yet.
I am just going off the info sent out.

Thanks, I guess I will just have to wait a bit to see what is in each version.

Promo cards for the US and UK sets are available for free through the Rittenhouse website:

https://www.scifihobby.com/samples.cfm

Blowout has boxes for $124.95 and cases for $1,474.95, better than Rittenhouse at $199.99 and $1,999.99.

Default Finding better value in breaks…

My little family are big Dr Who fans. I used to jump to buy boxes of the non-sports issues we like, like GOT, Star Wars, and Star Trek.
Lately I find better value buying spots in non-sport breaks. If I bought 2 or 3 boxes of Dr Who I may win the gamble for a top card but then I have a lot of near insert sets and probably 1 base set.
This time I bought 6 $105 spots in the Dr Who dual break. It has both U.S. and U.K. Cases. I will get to choose wherever the random drops me. I can construct my initial collection with my picks. Still a gamble but buying boxes has more of a gamble, imho.
Just my take,
Vinny
P.S.: the key, to me, is also multiple spots in a 31 spot break.

Figured this could use a bump since this set is still scheduled to release in one week.

There doesn't seem to be a ton of enthusiasm flowing here, but I for one think this set looks pretty exciting. Four on-card autos per box and a bunch of cool sounding inserts. I have two boxes on order - looking forward to ripping them!

I added 1 spot as I anxiously await this week’s release of the set.

So…How much do we think a Jodie Whittaker sells for out of the gate?

I like her but she’s not as popular as the “younger” female stars the market gets excited by. She’s an Extremely Limited auto and the 13th Doctor so that’s a plus.
My guess is $150-$200. I don’t see anyone standing out, and there are no autos listed as “Scarce”.
I consider this set the first of many to come so I plan on getting the most autos to start out. As RH works backwards, some autos should be hotter than this series.
Imho,
Vinny
PS: there may be inscriptions that are more limited.

First non-inscription auto early bidding is already over $120 on what appears to be a 3-day listing. Did anyone else see the hot box listed with 10 autographs?

Yeah, that’s actually my listing. Was just curious to see guesses on what might be the first one up. I really have no clue with nothing to really compare her to so figured I would let an auction figure it out.

I didn’t hear about the hot box but that’s a pretty nice box to open, even if the majority are normal autos it’s a win!

i broke the seal on a case to sell one box and there's a hot box in the case. UK edition. i wonder what the run on hot boxes is... very interesting development. could be quite the interesting sealed box in the long run

Are hot boxes only in UK cases? We opened a US case yesterday and shipped boxes out. I didn’t know about these which is good because if there was one in the case then we have no clue who it shipped to. That should be a nice surprise for someone!
