I don't collect Baseball, so I really don't know, but aren't Panini and Topps essentially the same. The issue is not the specific company, it's the lack of competition. Panini doesn't care what any of us think, because if you want to buy Football, you are buying Panini. Topps doesn't care either, because if you are buying Baseball, you are buying Topps. I don't think anything will change when it's Fanatics running things, especially if they have hired the staffs and brands from Topps and Panini (if that all comes to fruition as we think).

No. Topps had legacy brands, as did Upper Deck. If Topps Chrome and, perhaps Sapphire, been around in Football, Prizm would be a distant secondary option for all the shiny and refractor RC's of all top NFL players since 2016. The, uh, 'designs' of most Prizm sets are atrocious. We might have Transcendent football, and who knows where that would fall. Almost nothing panini has, was earned. They bought their way in and, by default, became the only option. If/when fanatics is able to bring back all the missing brands from the various companies, it'll be really interesting to see how it plays out if UD Exquisite is up against NT and up against Topps (Five Star or whatever would comp)

Topps was NEVER a good high-end product. Anyone remember the high-end Topps product that they put stickers on the jersey? I cannot remember the name of the product. The only thing I want from Topps football would be Topps/Chrome/Bowman/Chrome/ & the Sapphire versions of those products. Those were their sweet spot.

Agreed. I'm not familiar with Sapphire as I don't do other sports, but Chrome/Bowman Chrome are the only Topps products that should have any interest.

Topps Dynasty Football would be really nice. I would prefer they stick with a simple checklist with maybe 1 image variation only.

It seems to be a nice product, but 1 card packs has a very narrow customer base really. The majority of those of us in the hobby are not “gamblers” on that level. Topps chrome and Bowman Chrome, with their parallels, provide fun and big hit opportunities.

Topps Chrome Sapphire will always be in high regard likely being the #1 base rookie card value wise forever. I was being more specific to the high end brands. Topps Dynasty has the potential to be the #1 Rookie Patch Auto for baseball as the sport doesn't really have "The One" similar to National Treasures RPA's in FB and BKB. Topps Diamond Icons, Topps Tribute, Topps Sterling and Transcendent also have that potential if they make the right changes to content. Something is going to replace the NT RPA, Topps Dynasty is the best bet if they get rid of the 5 image variations.

Haha I remember that, that was right when I got back into cards and I was like wtf is going on here. The basketball version didn’t do that, pretty weak

I totally agree about Contenders, until Panini messed that product up with all the variations. It was once a must buy box(s) and try to anticipate the SP’s. The loss of NT would be a big loss to the hobby, but it too got overly expensive. I know UD Exquisite in my opinion will always be the best high-end product produced!

My guess is that you’re referring to Topps Lettermen with the stickers on the letter patches, game used or manufactured.
