Default Curry cards numbered 3/##

I have a friend who is going after Curry cards numbered 3/##. He thinks these are both cool and a smart purchase. I hadn’t thought about it before but it makes sense with him breaking the record. I started thinking about other players where something like this would work… like 81/## cards for Kobe or 14/## for Klay. Anyone else collect special or unique numbered cards based on records or achievements tied to the player?

I don't feel numbered to three warrant a premium. Fortunately for your friend, I feel the majority of collectors would feel the same way.

Sounds like a PC thing. Anything other than that is a big ole stretch!

Its a good gamble. The more younger digital generation are really into numbers. In the NFT space, a jersey number can be worth 10x . First and last (which the nft calls perfect score).

It is not what a person thinks, it is what everyone wants that is important.

Personally, I think it's crazy for someone to pay a premium on a Curry 3/## card.

With that said, going forward, if I can pick up a Curry 3/## card for the same price as another Curry ##/## card, I'll start prioritizing the former. Then I'll reach out to those (like your friend) who pay premiums for such cards, move it, and buy the other ##/## for a discounted price.

The value is in a signed Curry /3 that also has an auto with "three-point record" inscription and the serial number circled.

It took me a second to work through why 3 would be a number associated with Curry. Obvious now but still not wholly unique to him like 81 is to Kobe. It sounds like a fun chase however.

This would be neat, but I dont see him being the most accessible athlete even post retirement ... he's a mega star, so not like he will hit the con circuit.

Setting aside the potential value in "3/x" cards, if Panini (and then Fanatics) aren't putting an "x/3" parallel out for every one of his cards from here to eternity (even if the set otherwise doesn't have an "x/3" level), they're morons.

Agree with everyone else saying it probably won't matter long term, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice I had a Curry with that numbering and went "oh, that's sort of neat."

A bit of a stretch. Not really deserving of a premium.

Another cool one is 2/8 or 2/24 cards for Kobe (Gigi + Kobe #s)

With Panini printing so many, your friend is gonna have a hard time getting them all.

Big time card right there. Wonder what the 3/99 NT RPA is worth.
