Default First ever pack with my son magic

I had a son back in early September. Or rather my wife did. Our first little guy.

Today I was out at a local mega store buying baby things (they need a lot, as you may have heard). I saw that this place had some bowman chrome mega boxes and topps chrome mega boxes and some sort of Pokémon box set things that this one guy in front of me seemed very excited to buy.

I sort of went back and forth about buying a mega box while in line. I looked at the checklist, and that they seemed available for not much more than retail, and that I didn’t really need any cards. But, the guy in front of me bought one, and I thought “hey I haven’t opened packs in forever” so I grabbed one.

I got home and picked up my little guy and opened a pack, and told him not to spit up (definitely a big ask for a 7ish week old). Perused the cards and this was in the middle.

Not a bad first pack for the little guy!

He’s also closer in age to Cristian than I am, which is a really fun thing to think about that doesn’t make me feel old at all.

Maybe this will be a fun card of a star player for us to share when my guy is of baseball-following age. Or maybe it’ll be a Gregg Jeffries (the hot prospect from the year I was born). Or maybe my little guy won’t like baseball at all. But a nice little serendipitous family heirloom, of a kind.

He did almost spit up on the next pack. Good man.

Congrats on the baby...and his first hit.

Watch out for the 3 "P"s - my first kid got me in one day: pee, poop, and puke.

You're clearly not talking about the Mega packs with 172 or some weird, not-so-round quantity.

All joking aside, those big boxes of Huggies are great for storing/moving boxes of cards. They're heavy duty.

Congrats on your son and pull.

While news of your boy didn't prompt me to have another child, it did send me to Blowout to finally buy two BC Megas!

What's the baby have to do with you buying cards? Good story I guess.

Nothing. But it was our first time opening packs together. So there’s that.

That card is never pulled if not out buying baby diapers. Kid is responsible for pull.

I was kidding.

Congrats! That’s great fun, and a nice story for your kid when he’s older.
I still have the wrapper from the first pack my kid opened. (There was nothing of worth inside. ). It’s a fun little momento.

Great little read there OP !!! What an awesome thing to share with the little guy later, definitely a bit magical I’d say. Congrats again on becoming a dad, nothing better.

Congrats.... so the kid has a hot hand.

Im not hocus pokus about hot hands but can you mail out pieces of a diaper or spit cloth to wipe on boxes before opening?
