Default LaDainian Tomlinson Appreciation Thread

Figure I would start a thread for the fellow LT collectors out there!

Here is my IG page that has a decent amount of my LT stuff on it:

That guy was otherworldly. I can't believe the Chargers got him AND Drew Brees in the same draft.

Not a card but I got his game used jersey from the 2007 Pro Bowl where he scored a TD in. It came from NFL Auctions

He was the guy who told EA to get bent when they wanted to put him on the cover of Madden.

He ended up rushing for 1000+ yards while Vince Young’s career fell apart.

Yeah, totally. I remember looking over to my roommate at the time and stating that the Chargers just got a foundation for a Super Bowl. I loved Brees and Purdue and knew he had "it" for a QB. LT was awesome as well. Fate had other plans with the Chargers, lol. Two HOF picks though.

I have some Autos, rookies and game used patches of him in my Hall of Fame collection. Definitely and underrated undervalued Hall of Famer in the hobby.

I'm not an LT supporter but man, he was really talented. I am a bit surprised he's not a bigger deal in the hobby - I think a SB win would have put him in a whole other level of collectibility.

How the Chargers lost that 2006 Div. Playoff game against the Patriots will always confound me. That team was LOADED. I mean, check the roster. Wow.

Echoing the bolded, LT was damn fun to watch. I would argue the most exciting skill position player of the 2000's. I think his lack of hobby love stems from minimal hype coming out of college (mostly), to going to San Diego (somewhat), and not having a Super Bowl appearance to showcase his skillset (minimal). AP was anointed the next coming before stepping foot on an NFL field...and the hobby love mirrored that. Not that it wasn't deserved, AP was an all-time great player...but compare the two side-by-side and it's hard to not call it a wash, or maybe give a slight edge to LT.

I have about 30 autos of him in my collection. Tomlinson was super fun to watch, and I gained a ton more respect for him after seeing his episode of A Football Life. Guy has a great head on his shoulders, super humble, and loves his family.

Can anybody argue that LT isn't the best running back since the 90s?

Maybe AP comes close, but LT was special.

We need a thread asking people to name the #4 RB of All-Time with Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders off the table.

Is it Emmitt? Is it AP? Is it LT? Is it a dark horse like Frank Gore, Marcus Allen, Erik Dickerson, or even Bo Jackson?

Marshall Faulk was pretty good.

I prefer backs that can run/catch. Craig, Faulk, LT, McCaffrey.

Agree 100%.

He recently did a video for the Chargers doing a tour of his mansion. A fun watch for those interested

OJ was pretty good as well. Overlooked these days because, well you know.

There was a huge LT thread a few years ago. Tons of nice cards posted. Definitely massively underappreciated - like most star NFL players who don't get a ring or aren't QB.

The juice is still very popular, even though, well, you know. That might have made him even more popular with the public, in some regards.

The NFL also put him on the 100th anniversary team. And that was just a few years ago. So not really overlooked.

Very true when it comes to the hobby. But the same can be said of any running back, outside the big 3. But LT was never under appreciated by the league. The Chargers retired his jersey already. He was a 1st ballot hall of famer. He won Man of the Year, League MVP, 6 All Pros and is in the college HOF as well.

He was/is appreciated. Just not as much hobby love, due to his position.

Faulk vs LT would be a great discussion.

They were both backs who could run and catch, with LT being the better pure runner, Faulk the better pass catcher.

And then of course Emmitt is a much different back but he was great in his own right.

Jim Harbaugh had more rushing yards in his career, than Bo Jackson did. Bo would be the darkest of dark horses in that race,
