Now that we're all triggered by the title, please take a moment to calm down and realize it was all in jest.



Being that Garland is a Cavalier and fellow 'Dore as well, I've become a fan of him over the past year or so.



He's also kind of fun to collect, being that he's an Upper Deck guy and doesn't have any licensed NBA autos. That makes his top end stuff somewhat affordable and reasonable to chase.



The point of this thread, for anyone who cares, is to discuss and show off Garland as he progresses with the Cavs. I'm hoping he takes that next step towards becoming and all star point guard and gets the Cavs out of the bottom of the standings soon.

I'm optimistic with what I saw in the season opener...

His shot was off all game until the 4th when he dropped 3 3's. He looked like an elite distributor with 12 assists and only 2 turnovers.

Best part was how well he got his bigs buckets... Jarrett Allen with 25 pts on 11-11 shooting, Even Mobley with 17 in his NBA debut.

That's a sweet Nebula Garland! Might be worth a car. Could be worth a Ferrari or a Ford, that is TBD. Hope Garland does well and they need to ship Sexton.

That Nebula and Gold are awesome! I too am a big fan of Garland. Posting two of what I have for now until I can get more pictures taken of the rest!

Realistically, if you want a guy who should have a solid career, doesn't get much hobby love at the moment, and has a chance to be a all-star down the road, Garland could be your guy. I think the odds of Garland catching on as a hobby sensation are low (and I'll expand on that if anyone cares to hear why), but I'm fine with that, because it gives me the opportunity to buy tip-top end stuff of his for an affordable amount.



To put it in perspective, when I bought the Nebula (which IMO is his single best card ever made, given the condition), I paid for it what it would have cost to buy a Patrick Mahomes PSA 10 Prizm base rookie.



If DG were getting superstar prices, I wouldn't be able to easily pick up this gem, which is one of my favs because it's not only a pop 1, but it's one of his few inscriptions where he calls out my alma matter as well:

Prior to this weekend, there were over 400 Garland base Prizm RCs for sale on COMC. Now, about 200. I don't know about you, but when I see floors getting swept after a successful last couple weeks, I usually hunt for the best deals I can before everyone else takes notice.

Just looked and I have 25 that I spent the summer/early fall buying at $2 a piece.

It's going to be an interesting experiment if he takes off. With no NBA autos, there's just not as much of his stuff for the usual suspects to pump. No passing NT RPA's back and forth, because the non-auto versions just don't pack the same punch.

I would say base Prizm and Silvers could explode, but that part of the market is down right now, and with PSA grading prices making it negative ROI to send in base and grade, I'm not sure it heats up any time soon.

However, for collectors like myself, I think it could be great. Items with real scarcity like low numbered Prizm Color, Flawless Rookie Patch, and yes, even Kabooms, could be even more sought after.

Of course, they might not go to the moon, because the key players that pump cards and drive a lot of the market likely don't have a lot of Darius Garland to pump.

Great for collectors. Bad for pumper boiz.

It's hard to go wrong at that price, especially with wax prices where they are right now. Zig when others zag, especially if you're holding long-term. I've picked up a handful of autos to go with the Panini stuff. My main focus has been the 2019 Goodwin Champions autograph since I can see people in a future thread arguing that it's his true rookie auto. The 2020 Exquisite stuff looks nice, but I don't have the budget to throw at it. I found the 2020 Goodwin Horizontal auto for $35 on a site last night. There are definitely some nice deals out there, but they are disappearing quickly.
