Question for those who still view the Astros as Public Enemy #1

Astros fan here (just being transparent). Not looking to rehash any of the stuff from 2017 (plenty of threads for that) but just curious about something. I see people pretty aggressively rooting against them because of 2017. If you are one of those people, honest question. How long will you feel that way?

Are you pretty locked in to your Astros hate for the rest of your life?
Will you root against them until all 2017 members are gone from the team?
Other?

Until all the players are gone. And then I root against those individuals on their new teams.

Feel that it ranks up there with the blacksox. Will be happy when no one on that team makes it into the HOF and the only one that has a chance is Verlander but I feel Verlander might be a steroid guy like Clemens.

It is human nature to root against people that crossed the line with deceit.

If someone cheated another person out of $10,000 when would the person that had the money stolen forgive the other person?

I’d be a bit more open to them if their personal admission amounted to more than the owner stating it didn’t really help them win the title and the left side of the infield reading robot remarks one time. It also doesn’t help that there is some unlikable personalities on the team. It’s also a bit funny to see fan bases with long term success (Yankees, Patriots, etc) relish the vitriol and thrive on it, while most Houston fans act like Michael Scott after he fell in a koi pond.

I have no real reason to like them otherwise. So it’s different than if they had a player I liked or followed for some other reason.

Now, with this match-up, I don’t want to see either team succeed. I guess I’ll just root for whoever the NL rep is.

It comes down to the fact that pretty much everyone involved got off with a hand slap.

History shows us what happens when a person or team cheats. Nothing even close was meted out to any of the co-conspirators.

Pretty hard to square their punishment against past transgressors.

Much like pro wrestling or in the movies I think it’s to fun to root for the bad guy sometimes. It’s funny to see people spontaneously combust with hatred when they win.

Until the cheaters move on. And the fact that this is a topic you started then want to say "well other teams cheated" goes to being tonedeaf. Most won't ever respect anything these guys ultimately accomplish, so instead of thinking others should move on it's likely best for you/them to just accept it.

If the Astros and their owner admit guilt and sincere remorse and pay back the $10K (in this give back their championship and pay back all the money they cost other players by cheating), then I wouldn't mind if they win another championship.

The Astros should also welcome whatever beanings they get from other teams and ask MLB to not step in to protect them.

I'm the boat of until the cheating players move on since none of them were punished and gave weak apologies like they did nothing wrong. The team should have been punished more too. MLB also should have done an investigation on why the Astros pitchers spin rates were increasing and decent pitchers became Cy Young after they went to the Astros (Verlander, Morton, Cole), but I think what happened to Cole after they banned the sticky stuff this year probably explains that now.
