Default Pokemon Celebrations Thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to pick up the ETBs and some of the Pin collections sets. For those of you breaking the product what do you think of it and the value potential.

I also preordered a few of the premier Pokemon set the around 300-400 dollar sets the ones with the metal cards.

I hope they continue printing for the rest of the year and through January.

I got my one ETB early and did very well. Celebrations is super fun to open. Here are a few of my favorite cards I pulled:

Oh wow, very nice!!

I like the way they put the pikachu face on the cards so right away you know its the 25th anniversary.

How big is the set?

The set is only 50 cards, but some are really easy to pull. The last 25 cards in the set Classic Collection reprints, but they have etching and are really cool. It's a very fun set to open. I really want the Classic Collection Charizard with all the etching.

The etching Charizard, is that what the metal card is called? Or a part of the regular set?

The etched foil Holo Charizard is part of the regular set. It's like the Base Set Holo Charizard 4/102, except it shines differently and has the Pikachu logo on it.

Definitely going to be ripping some and holding some as well as long as I can find some...

Number one card I am looking for is that gold star Umbreon.

oh that is nice! I found 2 box sets this morning, and have 1 etb. I may wait for more etb from target before opening.

It would have looked much better if they went with the "25" that's on the JP Celebrations cards.

Yeah, even that's kind of annoying, but it is better. I feel like if they did either one but about the same size/place as the base set 2 symbol of yesteryear that would have been perfect.

It's going to be a very popular product. Lot's of Pikachu stuff. Lots of nostalgia. My only fear is they will be replacing gears on the printing press from overuse. Vivid Voltage was an awesome set then they flooded the market and the cards are down 60-70% in value this year.

I would love a regular release with the use of the old WOTC borders like they did with the light toxtricity.

The premier boxes look real nice but dang what a markup right now. Do you see prices dropping from current prices or you think itll keep going up

I wouldn't mind it, might give the people going from store to store buying up stock a bit more pause if they wound up with a lot of inventory they are holding the bag on. Honestly as someone who just likes the pokemon and looking at shiny cards I'd rather they prioritize accessibility over maintaining value.

Awesome set. This is a must buy at retail. Secondary prices are absurd, and will get crushed in the next few weeks. Every SKU will be printed to death.

Based on LGS allocations, the ETBs should eventually be plentiful. The only SKUs that will be hard to find are the Ultra Premium Collection Box and the Pikachu figures - these are also the least likely to be reprinted. The Collector's Chest may also be hard to find based on the aforementioned allocation #s that have been floated.

Here's some of the other cards I pulled from my ETB yesterday:

Singles are going to tank so hard on this but it's a great set just unfortunate that many people are paying way over MSRP for there is going to be a ton of it and the subset seems easy to pull at 1/3 packs.

The UPC will be the set to have imo.

Yes. Singles wil go down. But pulling old wotc designs wil keep this product hot for years. Generations 2.0 even at over printing.

Just wait tl grading comes along. raw singles of the classics at psa 10 will be hot for years.

Premiere boxes with the metal cards will be cases to hold.

Yup, my plan will be to keep an eye on the singles prices and then jump on some of the classic collection cards like the Umbreon and OG Charizard (and Bday Pikachu).
