I’ll admit that at this time we’ve only had a very limited look at Trevor Lawrence, Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance, but I’m personally not very impressed thus far.
The five of them combined, as of now, have 9 TDs, 18 INT, and a Total QBR of 26.4 according to ESPN, which is REALLY bad. Between them they’re 1-9 on the season. You compare just their QBRs to the 5 QBs from the 2018 draft class (which had a combined 47.2 QBR by week 4, AND only 2 of the 5 had started a game up to that point), they’re playing pretty poorly right now. I certainly hope that they got their stride in the NFL sooner rather than later, and I’m sure they will either later this season, or next season for sure. I hope all turn into Josh Allens. Thoughts of different teams situations, or were some of the QBs just slightly overrated? Last edited by TheSting; 10-02-2021 at 10:00 PM. |

Super rough start for rookies. I do like the fact that Lawrence has publicly said he’s not going to back down or try to play more conservative. Of all the QBs he’s got the most leash and I’m glad to him taking a full throttle approach.
Fields and Wilson are busts. |

Zach has the most limited body of work. Trey has limited experience also, but has more natural ability. Mac and Fields will need to be in the right systems to succeed. On paper, Lawrence ought to be head and shoulders above all of them

I think I’m the most disappointed in Trevor Lawrence so far. Just hasn’t lived up to the insane hype thus far. Wouldn’t say he’s a bust though.

Lawrence also has nearly as many INT as Herbert in his entire rookie season already. (7 INT in 4 weeks compared to 10 in 16 weeks) So I would just say he’s off to a rougher individual start than I expected. |

No one has really separated themselves at this point.
-Lawrence is on the crappiest team, so he'll need some skill position help in the draft/free agency (don't forget his teammate and first round back is out for the season). -Wilson....poor guy, the Jets are a QB graveyard. -Fields has potential, we'll need to see more to fully evaluate, but the first two starts were hit or miss. -Trey Lance can't knock Jimmy G off, so he gets an incomplete as a gadget play so far. -Mac looks to fit McDaniels offense perfectly, just not many downfield throws in that offense. 70% completion rate and the second most completions in the league (behind Brady) is a good look. Two running back fumbles in Miami week one away from being .500 and another RB fumble away from potentially a different game this week. |
