Default Best current consignment service?

I have searched but know that these things can change quickly and often.

Looking to sell around 100 cards ranging from around $25-a couple thousand.

I reached out to probstein but have not heard back yet.

Appreciate any help

How many of those cards are $1k+ because that's all I would consider selling via consignment

Sounds like they all have their drawbacks, but Zacy is right I wouldnt send them anything that is under 1k.
On a side note I feel like these services are just an avenue for people to shill bid easier. Feebay wont do anything about them because of the amount of money they make off them. You should have to at least register your ebay account with the item on the back side so you cant just shill everything.

My partner and I started a consignment business that helps with getting your cards graded and consigned after working through a number of consigners. We weren't satisfied with the quality of service (specifically the lack of communication) and their refusal to remove listings for proven altered cards.

We'd love a shot at your business. Feel free to call or email with any questions.

I dont understand why anyone would even use a consignment service!
Ebay is not hard, sell it yourself it's not hard and takes minutes.
Why pay someone else money to do a simple job for you?
Why risk shipping a card to someone else and have it in their possession for something to potentially go wrong with it.
To each their own i guess.
I should start my own consignment service at this rate.

Do you only consign graded cards?

Yes. But we help get yours cards graded prior to consignment and are local to psa. We drop cards in-person directly at their office weekly.

No shipping to worry about cards not getting delivered to them.

Yeah selling on Ebay yourself is not hard but I think using a consigner that sells through their own platform (i.e. Goldin) which has a stricter return/refund policy than Ebay does have value. You wouldn't have to deal with all the shenanigans that go on all too often on Ebay where the winning bidder wants to return the card due to buyer's remorse etc.

I used to use Probstein and now exclusively only consign through PC Sportscards. I’ve sold many high end and low end cards through them and they do a great job. It’s also cheaper fees than if I was to sell myself on eBay.

This. Blows my mind how many scumbags are out there. Been on eBay for 20 years and have had more bs the last 6 months than the prior 19 years combined. Literally.

So you should do it all yourself and get charged more by ebay instead of doing nothing and getting charged less?

I recently asked this question in the baseball forum.

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1473654

It depends whether your cards are graded or raw.

Graded - auction houses, PWCC, Probstein, PC Sportcards, etc. They all have good and bad points. YMMV

Raw - Probstein and COMC. No buy it now for Probstein and long wait times for COMC in certain instances.

There's no buy it now/best offer card consignment service which is disappointing.

For cards of that level, I’d go PWCC or Probstein. I’ve used both. I’ve been happier with the realized prices from PWCC and overall responsiveness from them when communicating … BUT if you have ungraded/raw cards you have to go with Rick. Very few places take raw cards any more, so Rick is helpful here, especially since grading has become so expensive and is a hassle.

I remember the days I visited the BST forums... man, that was a couple years ago.

Only reason you should list on BST is if you need money for an emergency surgery and your cards are priced accordingly.

This

I don’t sell on eBay anymore but if I did I sure wouldn’t be doing it myself

I've had positive experiences with both PCSportscards and PWCC. Look at their consignors fees, they vary slightly and if you can predict the final sale you could make slightly more with one than the other. Don't go to an auction house unless the card is 100% a 5-figure card.

Edit: This is all for graded cards

Charged more?

My average percent per item i pay to ebay for sports cards including the manage payment fee is 12.5%.

Most of these guys take an average 15% cut not including any paypal fees you would get when you get paid from them.

i just sold a $200 card and was charged 12.6% total fees on ebay.

Send the same card to a consignment service and give them 13.5%-17.5% is not paying less for something that takes me less then 5 minutes to do.

According to pwcc fee structure if i sold that same card with them they would take 17.5% while i paid ebay 12.5%.

I have sold a ton on ebay over the past 20 years so to me its 2nd nature.
To each their own.

Pretty sure outside of 1-10 dollar cards, youre making more with someone else doing all the work.

No one is selling raw cards on consignment (yes I realize that’s a blanket statement and there are always some… and some raw exceptions)

That’s why it’s more

It’s cheaper to sell slabbed cards, which is what people do, via a consignment service than on your own

According to PWCC current rates thats not true.
I pay 12.5% selling myself on a $200 ungraded card they charge 17.50%
I pay 12.5% selling myself on a $200 graded card they charge 15.00%
Not including the paypal transfer fee which is usually 2.9% when they pay you.
And no i am not accepting multiple or high dollar payments as friends and family through them seen way to many peoples paypal accounts banned from that.
