Anyone getting a larger amount of ebay buyers not paying of late? Ive had 6 in my last ten sales?
Any tips on how to combat this? Very frustrating to have to wait 4 days to cancel the sale, then have to relist again. |

Ebay is way too lax with non-payment, so this is the result. Buyers can build up non-payments against them and keep on buying and not paying. Page after page of eBay deadbeats on the trade feedback sub-forum.
A couple things one can do: as a seller you can auto-block any buyer who has a certain number of unpaid strikes in a given time. For example, any buyer who caused 2 or more cancellations from nonpayment in the last 6 months (you choose these numbers). This is done by searching “Buyer Requirements” in the ebay help section, and following the instructions. Another thing to do is stay away from auctions: in my anecdotal experience it is auctions that are associated with the most nonpayments. Maybe it’s someone getting caught up in the bidding one night, then the next day feels they paid too much and don’t want the item (contrast to someone searching out a buy it now listing to buy something for a specific price). Of course with buy it now listings you can require immediate payment if it’s not by an offer. Or, if you do allow offers, this enables you to at least check the buyers feedback for false positives or feedback left for others before accepting the offer.

I have one currently that hasn't paid for about a week. I will be taking action shortly. I normally stick to Buy It Now w/ best offer. I have it set up to require automatic payment for Buy It Now and I have my automatic decline set up very close to my asking price to hopefully persuade the buyer to go with the BIN or if they need a day or two too pay they can place an offer at almost my full asking price.
DnyaEtch I agree completely eBay is very lax. I remember when I first started buying you could get "NARU" for missing 3 payments I believe. You could also leave negative feedback for buyers if they where unreasonable or did messed up stuff. eBay sadly took the WalMart route for their customers.
