Default I was wrong about the Knicks!

Freaking awesome season for the Knicks! I was definitely wrong about them, I figured they'd have one of the worst records in the NBA. Did not factor in the Thibs factor.

Thibs single handedly turned this roster from one of the worst to one of the best without any major additions to talent.

He unlocked Point God Randle, and sharpshooter RJ. RJ shot 40%!!!!!!!!!!! from 3 this season.

Based on how they played this season, they're going to stomp the Hawks. 5-6 games at most.

I think they could even win a game or 2 against the Sixers.

Let's go Knicks!

This is what happens when you have a good coach who can grown ass men making millions of dollars a year to hustle and play defense.

Thibs is one of the better coaches we’ve seen in the last 20 years. Good for the team and the city.

They're an extremely likable team too. A bunch of guys that were overlooked/written off playing hard...you can't ask for more as an NBA fan.

I think the Knicks surprised basically everyone. I don’t know a single person who thought they’d be anything but a laughing stock lol. Definitely a nice surprise team. I found myself watching a lot of their games on league pass after the first month of the season.

Besides my pistons and the Jazz, I probably watched more of knicks and hawks than any other teams, so I’ll enjoy that series very much.

I can't stand the Knicks but it's too hard not to root for a team with Thibs, D-Rose and Taj on it.

I put down 30 bucks when they were 600-1 to win the championship at the beginning of the season. It would be a miracle to collect, but I hope they go on a nice little run like in 1999.

I still can't believe the T-wolves who he got to the playoffs in his second year, sent him packing. Happy to see him having success with the Knicks.

Surprised might be an understatement haha - as a Knicks fan and I posted this on these message boards I was hoping that RJ would improve his free throw shooting (thought 3 PT was a lost cause) - Mitch would learn not to foul - Randle would play well enough to net them a second round pick at the deadline and they would be in the running for a top 5 pick.

My expectations probably couldn't have been lower but the emergence of IQ and Thibs getting Rose and taking the minutes from Payton not IQ was HUGE - Burks/IQ/Rose second unit 100% solved their scoring off the bench issue.

I just want a first round win and a somewhat competitive second round series thats it and for Dolan to stay the F away from any trades this team makes in the coming years.

every sport has a coach or coaches who come in with a lot of intensity and rah rah stuff, it ignites a fast rise, but eventually the methods wear people out if they don't win. Tortorella in the NHL, coughlin/bb in football, maddon in baseball, thibs in the nba.

The last part of this is what worries me. I hope they learned for the melo trade that giving away your entire team for one player kills you. Let’s keep what they got and if you can add someone without giving away the core guys then do it

Trae is a great, young, exciting player. The problem is that his defense is so horrifically bad that it's really really hard to make up for it offensively and even harder when you're not surrounded by a team full of elite defenders.

The Steph Curry comparisons in a vacuum kind of make sense but when you say "oh Curry won titles why can't Trae" that's where you lose it. I was super wrong on Trae, thought he was just a volume scorer and good passer but he's a legit scoring title threat type guy who can go out and give you 10+ assists per game.

As good of a scorer as he is, he's never going to be as good as Steph. Steph was and is a much better shooter and ball handler. Sure, he's not as good of a facilitator but he's good enough. He's also not nearly as terrible defensively. Steph was a mediocre defender and fit well next to other elite defensive players during their title runs (Iggy/Klay/Dray/ even Livingston was lengthy and very good when he needed to be). Trae is legit one of the worst defenders in the entire NBA and that's not changing. Not to mention he's surrounded by other bad defenders (not a great combo). The Hawks are never going to stop anyone with their current roster construction

John Collins is a fine player but he's certainly not going to be the #2 option on a contender. If you look at other "big 3s" you see guys like Bosh and Love who are both better than Collins. Look at both of them pre big 3 and they were both borderline superstars. Collins is a fine player but he's certainly not on Pre Cleveland/Miami Bosh/Love level and I don't think he ever projects to be.

Capela is again, a good player but so far from the 3rd best player on a contender it's not even worth discussing.

Huerter is an ok player. Super overhyped. No clue where the whole "Klay lite" thing came from. He's a fine rotation guy but certainly not putting them over the top.

No, the Hawks are not going to be a top 3 team in the east, not even close. They will be fighting for 7/8 seed at best.

They have good/great young players but unfortunately none of them are championship caliber talent.

I understand why the Hawks keep getting hyped up. They've got the hot hobby guys but unfortunately that doesn't translate into actual basketball success.
Here is his prediction from last season. As we all can see, the Hawks tied for 4th best in the East this year. They were as close to 3rd as they were to 7th. Not bad.

I'm thinking this thread isn't so much about trying to admit that he was wrong, but more so about trying to subtly pump RJ. Lol.

Knicks experiencing their greatest success in over 83 centuries.

Yet Knox still stuck in purgatory.

It don't feel right.

I love Thibs and thought there was less than zero shot of this happening. Happy for my NY friends.
