![]() ![]() I think its time to talk about Russell Westbrook and his incredible ability to churn out triple-doubles. The man is a special, once in a generation talent whether you like it or not. Westbrook has 174 career triple-doubles, now just 7 shy of Oscar Robertson's NBA record of 181. Anytime you are close to beating an NBA record held by a man sporting a black and white pic, you are greatness. Lets address this (sigh) phony 'narrative' that triple-doubles don't mean anything anymore and are easy to achieve. This false narrative popped up around the time Russ started lodging them at a frenetic pace, and I'm guessing was pushed by a bunch of people that don't like him, and who aspire to downplay his incredible play, and almost superhuman basketball feats with the intensity and passion we seldom see in today's players. Is it a coincidence that greats like MJ, Kobe and AI said there fav current player is... Now, there is truth in that the pace of todays game has increased which allows for more possessions hence more opportunities to accumulate stats BUT not any old Tom, Dick or Harry can go out in a professional NBA basketball game and dominate with the trip-dub, let alone get them back to back or holy mackerel average one for A WHOLE SEASON. Lebron James doesn't tally them as frequently as you might expect, and one day I'm expecting Luka might come close to challenging the record. Of course, this will give the sour dogs a chance to vomit out some type of vitriol such as he is a stat-padder, ball hog, career loser or one of the most comical I recently came across was 'good for himself but not his team.' I'm not exactly sure what the winning % is on his Triple-Doubles with the Wiz, I briefly saw a stat flash across the screen during today's games that they started 0-5 when he tallies but I'm guessing that % has improved dramatically and the overall winning % for his career is very high... We see you Russ... ![]() |
