Default MJ auto long term value

With official licensed MJ bulls auto price skyrocketed, I am thinking of buying his relatively cheaper auto as an alternative, which one is a better choice for long term hold in your opinion?

1. Non official bulls auto (From his camp with UDA certificate)
2. Official licensed Wizard auto
3. Official licensed UNC auto

All Jordan autos are good buys. But, I would go with the lowest serial numbered ON CARD ONLY UNC card you can afford.

I'd go with 1 & 3 in that order.
Unless something crazy happens, the # of Bulls autos won't increase. Not the case with NC autos.

I think all Jordan autos are good investments. I remember I started a thread a few years ago asking about MJ's college autos and see if they were good investments, and round the same time I grabbed about 20 copies of Jordan college autos through the year from 2011 to 2015. I think the price has already increased by 6x-8x since then. In my opinion, Jordan's Bull autos are the coolest but not for everyone because of their high prices; instead, Jordan's college autos are more affordable even if they reach 5k apiece.

what do you think of his Wizard auto? as the only affordable NBA licensed auto card.

Jordan is king in basketball. The only thing that can hurt his prices would be if he did something stupid in the public eye, which does seem possible cause he is rarely seen other than for business and charity events. Believe me, if MJ pulled what Paul Pierce just did noone would even flinch. MJ is the god of basketball.

I would stay away from his Wizards autos. I'd rather buy 2 UNC autos, than 1 Wizards auto (if the math works out).

I like the jordan camp autos but i'm always skeptical of the COAs

From your list, I'd get a Wizards auto. Lots of very nice choices from that era and actually part of his playing days.

Buy 'em all!!

They're all good. I know some people aren't a fan of college autos, but most of those are pretty nice really and most are on-card. I would ofcourse prefer Jordan Bulls Autos, who wouldn't, I actually picked up 3 in the past year, but they are getting spendy. I only have one Wizards Auto and was actually looking at picking up another. So really yeah, get any and all you can afford in your budget, they're the cards I just go to look at in my collection. Post some pics if you get one/some.

I'm not sure how the younger generation will view MJ, but currently he's probably the only athlete that is so well known and beloved that his value and branding won't be affected by much.

I don't see his Pack Inserted autographed cards going down in price unless we see some type of economic downturn. His autos are readily available as long as you have the funds. You can purchase his auto directly from Upper Deck for as low as $5k, so they're not all that rare in general. His autographed cards, on the other hand, we may never see another one.

Make sure it’s an on-card auto and it has a photo (or photos) that appeal to your eye.

Here’s one I bought from a board member here a while back. I didn’t want to spend “bulls auto prices”, so I went the upper deck shadow box route:

I’ve always been a fan of his wizards autos. Some really nice patch autos out there.

The Jordan brand is so big and iconic that it will live on well beyond MJ himself, like many of the top fashion/car brands in the world.

For me, he's the safest long term investment by far. You don't even need to see a picture of Jordan to be reminded of him, every time you see the iconic jumpman logo (which is everywhere), you picture Jordan immediately.

They look nice but I personally don't prefer his Wizard autos; they are like Kevin Garnett in Nets uniform, Karl Malone in Lakers uniform; so I would rather use the money on a couple MJ college autos instead. By the way, there is another NBA licensed card set with Michael Jordan Bulls auto which is still quite affordable and that is the 1996 Upper Deck Signature Series Michael Jordan auto ( a four cards set with an official NBA Michael Jordan autograph). This set is probably one of earliest Michael Jordan autograph and most importantly is they are still undervalued comparing to other Bulls auto.

I absolutely love a good camp auto. As long as it is slabbed and you have done your homework on what to look for with his signature then you can find some great cards. I have in my collection, a 1986 Fleer Sticker, 1987 Fleer Sticker and 199293 Beam Team. I know the source of who submitted the card on 2 and no concerns on the other.

I also love a nice in person, era specific auto but that requires a good deal of research and a strong comfort level and knowledge of MJ's various auto styles through the years.

wouldn't touch camp autos or wizards stuff but that's just me
That is correct, but those prices are no more. Right now, those 400-600 Jordan college autos are starting from 2k. In my opinion, the Jordan College autos are for majority collectors because of their affordable prices.

Didnt know they were that high, I remember them dipping below $300 shortly after they started flooding the market.

Correct, I remember the Exquisite shadowbox goes as low as $250 about 7-8 years ago, the stupid thing what I did was bought multiple UNC exquisite autos at $400 while MJ bulls auto was at $400-500. Then after several years, when I saw MJ bulls auto shot up to $2000, while the UNC autos still sit at $500, then I sold all of them, and did not buy at bulls auto. lol....

Timing can be brutal. Sold a giannis prizm rc auto for $250 when he won mvp and thought that was good lol.

It's kinda sickening to think back to how cheap his autos use to be and we would all pass on them because spending $500 on a Jordan auto seemed excessive lol

Remember the member on here that strictly bought Lebron chrome rcs? He had a wtb thread regularly updated. I want to think at on time he owned like 500 of them. I wonder if the cashed out before the huge explosion? That would be some crazy money.
