Default BGS to PSA and PSA to BGS Crossover Tracker

Curious to see everyone's results when trying to crossover grades between BGS and PSA. I have heard many people asking about past results and tracking what sub grades are hit harder than others, so let's see some examples. I'll start:

Order: November 2019 (2 cards) - Submitted Still in BGS Slab (Not Cracked)

1991 Wild Card Draft Brett Favre 50 Stripe BGS 9.5 (10Ce, 9E, 9.5Co, 9.5S)
- Did not cross to PSA 10

1991 Wild Card Draft Brett Favre 100 Stripe BGS 9.5 (10Ce, 9E, 9.5Co, 9.5S)
- Did not cross to PSA 10

Might be good to specify whether or not the crossover attempt was a true crossover (submitted in TPG case) or a crack and submit via normal grading service.

Great idea.

Agreed. Thanks for calling that out

My most recent attempts were early last year:

BGS 9.5 2018 Topps Acuna #698 Bat Down (Quad 9.5) - submitted in BGS case
-crossed to a PSA 10

PSA 8.5 2018 Topps Acuna #698 Bat Down - cracked out of PSA case
-became a BGS 9.5 (min gem, but don't remember which sub was a 9)

Crack and Submit is not a crossover. Crack and Submit results should not be on this thread.

Great idea in starting this thread. It would be good to track and gather data on this. A 9e subgrade 9.5, seems unlikely to get a PSA 10.
I think cards which are cracked and carefully handled (perhaps including before and after pics in card savers once they are cracked) would be useful as part of this thread.

I just submitted a cracked PSA 9 Brady Bowman Chrome rookie min grade 9.5 and it came back BGS 9. So much for the min grade. Subs were 9.5, 10, 9, 9. Cool to see a 10 sub, but still frustrating nonetheless.

I'll most likely resubmit to PSA once they re-open in July. This one will likely stay in my PC regardless.

I would've figured that curry was a slam dunk. I never had a BGS 9.5 with a 10 sub grade not cross.

It’s blatantly obvious PSA doesn’t want to cross BGS 9.5’s over. I sent literally 9 Donovan Mitchell Silver Prizm Rookies all BGS 9.5’s with varying sub grades. Some Quad some Gem+ some Min and not a single one crossed to a 10. It’s laughable. If I cracked them out and sent I guarantee half would get a 10. So dumb and dishonest by PSA.

I’d bet they all cross with multiple submissions.

We’re crazy to pay the premiums for “gem mint” cards when 9’s look just as good most of the time lol.

ive had my fair share of crossovers that failed but a greater deal work successfully. lately, their raw grading standards have basically been 9'ing me to death so ill somewhat agree with you but ive had some big cards gem also.

I have had one crossover with a 9 sub grade get a 10 and that was for corners. but it was an atomic refractor pattern that looked like a bad corner, PSA saw past that. all of my gem+ crossovers got 10's, including a not perfectly centered carmelo rook xfractor.

I would put money on that Curry going back and eventually getting a 10. one card took me 6 tries but was worth it.

My thoughts are if it’s not at least minimum true gem, then don’t even bother if still slabbed. Better chances of they were cracked out and subbed. Even so, true gems+ success rate is under 40-50%

I cracked a Sidney Crosby Young Guns BGS 9 that had 3x9.5 and an 8.5 on corners. Came back a PSA 9 which was exactly what I hoped for. Had I done a crossover with min grade 9 they would have taken one look at the 8.5 sub and sent it back.

Not PSA but though this may help a bit. This card started out as a BRCR 9. This was a true cross with the card being submitted in the sealed holder.

Default BGS to PSA and PSA to BGS Crossover Tracker

Here are my results, 11/22 overall (tried the Giannis Prizm twice and one of the selects twice) after only getting 1 to cross out of my last 7. Still one card outstanding from before they shut off the service. Currently in Grading, so I should know by... end of summer?

I sent in 2 BGS 9s (min grade 9) and 7 BGS 9.5s (min grade 10) for $450.

Neither of the 9s crossed, even to PSA 9s.

Only 1 of the 7 9.5s crossed to a 10 and the difference between BGS 9.5 and PSA 10 is about $700 so I guess it was a wash basically.

Sort of a pre-grade thing they used to do at card shows.

Crossovers are a joke and a waste of money.

BGS 9 doesn't cross to a PSA 9 but if you cracked it it most likely would. You could then send that new PSA 9 back to Beckett and they wouldn't cross is either. But if you cracked it then it would grade a 9.

The 'we are tougher graders then them' posturing is stupid.

Here’s how my one and only batch of crossover submissions just fared:

Put mingrade of 10. Received N6 minsize. Know for a fact this card isn’t trimmed and it measures correct.

Put mingrade of 9. Rejected for not reaching a 9. Card is like pristine. Makes no sense.

Put mingrade of 7. Rejected for not reaching a 7. This is like the nicest 7 I’ve ever seen of this card. Also makes no sense.

Put mingrade of 8. Rejected for not reaching an 8. Looks better than most PSA 8s I’ve seen of the card.

It doesn’t feel like this crossover service is being run fairly, or that my cards were objectively graded as they represented would occur. If I cracked these holders and submitted raw, could they honestly tell me with a straight face that these cards (with maybe the lone exception of the Gretzky) wouldn’t have reached the min grades requested? Oh it’s more difficult to review the card in a holder they say? That’s not true, but even if it were sometimes true, it’d only be true where the holder is scratched or otherwise damaged in a way that makes it difficult to assess the condition of the card, which isn’t the case with any of the ones I submitted.
