Default Spiderman 3 Archive Box

I have an archive box of spiderman 3, I was wondering what is it worth in the current non-sports card boom. is it more valuable sealed or opened? I left the box sealed because i knew there were a lot of counterfeits with this set when it first came out. always planned on keeping but some of these prices these days make you think. Is there any danger in leaving the cards in the packs for such a long time?
I think it is one of my favorite autograph line ups from any set (Banks, Dafoe, Lee, Franco, Lawless, Campbell, Maguire)

thank

The only thing I could think of keeping it sealed is that maybe the cards get stuck together over time.

Last Maguire sold on eBay for $800. Will probably go up higher if he appears in the next Spider-Man movie.

Yup. If the cards are glossy/shiny, they could stick together if not stored properly. I haven't had sticking or bricking issues with any recent cards but have opened a bunch of SkyBox Star Trek boxes from the mid-1990s with severe sticking.

I bought few hobby boxes about 6-9 months ago and prices weren't crazy yet. Under 100 a box average before tax/shipping. I think stan lee and maguire were like 200-300 each at the time. The base cards did stick a little. The venom and spider-man inserts that have like a web texture I remember definitely stuck. The autos I don't think stuck at all because different finish. The auto would be between two base each side. The ink on the autos and condition were great. I was very pleased. However, I cannot speak to archive box packaging/packing. Best of luck!!!

imo sealed boxes are always better for value long term, if you want to gamble on the opening feel free, but I would recommend keeping it sealed for when you do eventually want to sell it

I haven't seen that hold true for archive boxes as you already know what the contents are.

Personally, I'd be worried about the cards sticking together. That's a lot of money to have destroyed if the cards do stick together and damage the autographs.

Also, if you sell it sealed and the buyer opens it you have to hope they don’t find issues. Personally, I would open it and sleeve everything. You could still sell it as a archive set someday, or enjoy it yourself.

If they're glossy you can put them in the freezer. They don't brick up that way. Yes, I'm being serious...lol.
