So... its been a few years on here since I've posted or sold....
from around 2010-15 I was a HUGE case breaker who would sell the hits and shelve the rest for later. Well... later has come. Its time to get rid of the the stuff that's been sitting in boxes. I've already spent 2 weeks going thru everything and pulled out all the top names, rookies, etc. My questions are below... since its been a while since I've sold, I'm looking for suggestions. 1. Is it easier to just list everything in large lots (like 30-50 cards) on eBay with BINs? 2. I have no interest in grading with the delays that it seems they have, plus that's never been my things to stare at a card under a microscope looking for the slightest imperfections... but with everyone wanting everything graded has there been an uptick on complaints from people buying raw and looking for BGS 10? 3. Since eBay is no longer doing everything thru paypal is there always going to be a delay in payments? Also, it seems that I have to pay for shipping even before I actually get the money from eBay... is there a way to get around that? 4. I've mostly listed single basketball rookies as that's what I have the least of with all positive feedback and I would assume that Bball collectors are the ones who grade the most... unless that's changed. I am not looking to sell anything on here at the moment and I'm not trying to hype up my cards as they'll sell for what they sell for... in my opinion its all extra funds for cards that have been sitting in boxes for several years. thanks for any and all suggestions. |

I'm with ^. I'm actually trying to buy more here and less on eBay these days.

Honestly, in the past this just seems like everyone wants to pay $3 for a $12 cards. Which is totally understandable, but with the mainstream folks all looking at cards, I feel there are more people who are willing to pay more or a premium for cards on eBay than on here. Don't mean that in a negative sense at all!

I’ve sold here several times, and while I have had good experiences with each sale/purchase That was completed, the low-balling game gets old very quickly. That’s why non-BIN eBay auctions are more attractive to some - takes the hassle of negotiations out of it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far... I've come across quite a bit of buyback cards with various stamps on them in different colors.... are they of any value

Boggs no but I know a buyer for him But seriously Condition, player, and color of the foil all reflect in final price sold but there is a market for them.As for your question about Ebay - they do hold the funds and transfer it to your bank account, but you do have the option to have the shipping funds taken out before your payout, so you dont have to technically front the shipping.

FYI if you have access to a printer, you can print shipping from ebay for $0.51, $0.71, or $0.91 to send (I believe?) up to 4 cards in a plain envelope, with tracking. The prices are for 1oz, 2oz, 3oz. Single card in a toploader in a plain envelope with some super thin cardboard around the top loader, or just taped inside a piece of paper, is within 1oz in my experience. Some people are using semi-rigid cardboard type mailers, or cheap greeting cards that add a bit more rigidity, then you might need the 2oz or 3oz. Some people just do the 91 cents option to cover any possible additional charge for a rigid envelope (USPS not 100% consistent everywhere, so some people have had up-charges or other issues)
If you can price cards at or below the $20 limit for this service, you can charge a lot less for shipping. When I'm looking to buy a ~$5 card, I'd rather buy from the person charging $1 vs. $4. Using this system, you print the label with postage and tape it to the envelope (or print to a sticker, or print directly on the envelope if you are able). Then drop it in the outgoing mailbox. They won't scan at the counter at the post office like a 1st class prepaid label would, so just drop 'em in.
