Not a Pokémon guy but Sasha made a super smart trade. Essentially he gives up:
-Lebron Base Rookie -Lebron Box Topper -Kobe’s worst 03/04 Exquisite Auto -$100K cash For the #1 gaming card in the world. It’s tough because I don’t want any of those cards and they don’t really do anything for me, but trying to be objective and put myself in Sasha’s shoes. He hedged against the market while simultaneously capturing immense upside. This is why Sasha excels at what he does. Last edited by GeechQuest; 03-14-2021 at 10:35 AM. |

It'll be interesting to see how this one played out on his YouTube channel.
Very interesting to see him go through his thought process when it comes to who he's buying and when and for how much...

Probably why I suck at high end flipping but I'd much rather have the 3 basketball cards and the 100k cash.
I am the age that understands Pokemon, know the entire 150 pokerap and can probably still beat red/blue/gold on a GB Color with my eyes closed. But when I have friends my age over who are exactly like me with the same pokemon knowledge, any of the 3 basketball cards though would be jaw dropping but the Charizard just meh that's nice. I guess because we're adults now and don't care the way we used to about Pokemon. We'll see how it plays out. Pokemon is clearly still popular with kids and while I can pokerap the original 150 in order, I don't even know what generation we're on now when I see this stuff in stores. Not up to date on pokemon pricing nowadays but if pokemon is still around and popular in 20 years, the Charizard might be a 1986 fleer type card worth 500k best case scenario is my guess

Yea... I dont know the first thing about pokemon other than that card is iconic.
Me? I'm keeping the cash / basketball cards. That xfractor is an absolute monster. Needs to be in a PSA slab though. I'd sell the base chrome. Keep the Kobe as a blue chip.... but have it slabbed by a real company ( ![]() We will have to see how this trade looks in 5 years. Fun trade though. Thanks for posting OP ![]()

Wow that’s a major trade! It’s a win for both sides IMO not counting initial costs.

This feels like a trade that a flipper would make. Imagine trading the base RC + xfractor RC of the 2nd best player ever AND an exquisite patch auto of one of the more iconic deceased players for a cartoon character.
I get the rarity of Charizard (pop 122) + significance of the first Pokemon card set as well as the global popularity of Pokemon, but c'mon! Just doesn't seem to make emotional sense. And that is why I call it a flipper trade. Makes dollars and sense, but hurts the clector brain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The fact that there are people on both sides of the trade seem to indicate it was fair.
I do not collect hoops or Pokemon so I am unbiased. I would go with the iconic card. |

What’s the most recent sale on the Charizard? I saw something around $220,000 last October but I suspect it’s much higher now. Edit: Recent Goldin auction was at $399k.
Looks like the Chrome PSA 10 LeBron is around $29k, the Xfractor BGS 9 recently sold for 91k. I saw at Goldin a Kobe patch auto sold for 9.6 k in a 8.5 in Dec but in September one sold for 19k. In a BGS 9.5 it seems based on the lower sale it’s a 35k to 40k card? So it seems like it’s 30k for the PSA 10 plus 36k for Kobe plus 100k cash that’s 166k plus the x fractor which at $90k is $256k for the Charizard. I see this as selling vintage NBA as it seems to be pulling back now. Those LeBrons in particular could fall 33% pretty easily in the near future. Of course so could the Charizard. I think it’s a fair trade. If my numbers are wrong let me know. https://goldinauctions.com/mobile/auctionresults.aspx Last edited by IlliniBear; 03-14-2021 at 12:32 PM. |

And that's the answer. Both sides may be very happy. And that's all that really matters. But one side traded up and the other traded down.

Man whoever got those b-ball and $100k cash......won hands down in my view. I would do that 100/100 times instantaneously! My 8 yr old nephew doesn’t have that much money to spend in Poke stuff

IMO, Sasha won that trade. Like one of the above posters said, Pokemon cards are so tough to find in good condition. I know when I was a kid, the last thing I was worried about was protecting the cards, I just wanted to play and trade with them.

The thing with those Pokémon guys is they collect for the actual love of the cards, so they’re not ever available. The pop is irrelevant because most of them are in serious collections. I’m not in the Sasha game, but respect his side of things. Will be fun to see what moves the Pokémon card for. |

I love basketball and don’t even care a little bit about Pokémon but I’d 100% take the charizard every single time.

Yeah, Sasha's game doesn't bother me. He seems very good at what he does, I know some people might resent his way of trafficking cards, but to me it's just interesting to see him work thru deals and build up card equity.

Gimme the bball cards, im old.
I dont judge anyone as long as both sides are happy with it. Obv the Pokemon is iconic, maybe THE most iconic, there's gotta be something said for that. Status value alone puts the edge to the Charizard.
