any thoughts on the new UD goodwin?

looks good though with a very slim chance of that exquisite michael jordan ?
i know you guys hate unlicensed product but for 1/4 price of nba hoops seems like worth a risk ? also they are doing chrome stuff now it seems...

hopefully some exquisite Jalen Green (ud exclusive)

The MJ exquisite has to be the weakest design for a potential product-hit in a while. The Sabrina kicks should be a big draw after the attention WNBA prizm got. My guess would be it is not 1/4 the price of Hoops by release...

You can pre-sale order a case (8 box case) of this for the price of one hobby box of donruss. Looking at the solds of 2020 singles, im guessing there's good roi for those ripping a case. It's not like this product is void of 4 figure cards

We have never ripped high end, but my biggest card ever came out of 2020 Goodwin (Burrow Exquisite #/99).

Some very interesting names on the sell sheet. In addition to the already mentioned, I have interest in these five:

Chloe Kim - Snowboarding
Cori "Coco" Gauff - Tennis
Mikaela Shiffrin - Skiing
Sabrina Ionescu - Basketball
Teofimo Lopez - Boxing

Just on first glance at the sell sheet:

Positives:
- No minis! Thank god, I dislike minis in all products, tough to handle, store, or keep
- Chrome is nice. 7 platinums a box means you should get close to a full platinum base set in a full 16 box case. Those chrome parallels might end up looking really nice too and that helps with the monotony of base which has been a problem for this product in the past
- MJ platinum legacy is 1:320 which is exactly 1/case. MJ chrome case hit is nice for the case breakers
- Exquisite inserts is great. Exquisites are what we're after anyway so it's nice to have numbered parallels of these all the way down to 1/1. Imagine this will be fun to collect
- Print run may not be massively increased? We know Topps and Panini are increasing prints big time. From first glance, there are some reasons to think Upper Deck print on this didn't go astronomic. Many autograph odds in 2021 actually improved from 2020, less of the splash of color lenticulars to chase for the bounties (down from 50 -> 35), 12 splash of color/goudey per box in 2021 vs. only 10 of these per box in 2020, etc.

Negatives
- 2 hits not 3. This is actually the only thing about the preliminary sell sheet that I see that could lead you to believe print run went up.
- No fanimation. Maybe not a big deal to most, but some of my favorite Jordans are his agent 23 fanimation pair from the 90s. I'll miss these in 2021

These cases remind me of my revolution case breaking days. 16 box cases, with 2 inner 8 box cases. Each inner case had 1 really big case hit last year. The case I broke last year I hit an Alex Morgan Exquisite /99. Paid for the whole case and then some in one card.

Overall, I bought in some for 2021. If you take current pricing of the inner case hits from 2020 (I would think current prices on these singles are lower now than when the product released too), that would still pay for half the $1k cost of a case at pre-order right now. No way to take a bath on these at $125/box if you're breaking by the case and should actually end up ahead if you put in some work. Baseball case grinders understand. Regardless, in a world where 1 box of Donruss = 1 case, and my guess that 1 box of prizm = 3-4 cases of Goodwin, give me the Goodwin. I'm literally paying more for retail mega boxes than these Goodwin hobby boxes so why not. At least I can rip these knowing I can hit the dream MJ, LeBron, Gretzky on-card auto someday

Last note, I noticed 2020 Goodwin retail became surprisingly popular for the first time. If you liked Goodwin retail in the past, I would recommend upping to the $125 hobby boxes. Less base trash and at least you have a shot at something really nice unlike retail

I bought two sealed master cases, @ $75 a box last year. Fun to rip at that price, and great ROI.

This year is about double the price, and with one less hit. No thanks

I put this in my post above but I do think Goodwin is one of the rare instances I think saving and shelling out for hobby over retail is worth it. Retail of Goodwin is always loaded with worthless base, I think last year it was just a silver pack that had some base parallels but the rest was garbage. However, given hobby is still cheap for this product, I do think value wise it's worth it over retail even at MSRP. Basically, I'd still go 1 hobby box > 6 blasters or 3 megas at retail MSRP

I just snagged an 8 box case on pre-order. Thanks for the heads up everyone. $125/box is a good price considering the potential for Exquisite cards (Jordan, Lebron, etc...) plus the addition of Chromium cards. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Preordered a 16 box master case today...seems the preorders are selling out a lot of places and leads me to believe the next wave of preorders will be higher priced...wouldn’t be surprised if these are $200+ per box on release.

Just keep in mind, you're far more likely to get a map relic and jersey of a horse jockey as your hits than any worthwhile auto. Goodwin is not a slam dunk.

I'd rather have one less "hit" per box and trade it for the 6 parallels in 2021. I'd guess the chrome cards of MJ and Lebron will sell fairly well. Last year they had 2 cards each in the 1-100 set and 1 each in the 101-150 SP set. Should have a decent shot at hitting a parallel of one of those guys in 2021.

Which is really why you have to bust it by the case (8 or 16 box) only way to guarantee the case hits that usually come in Goodwin.

This looks like it might finally be coming out... Over a year after the announcement. Checklist came out and, while the big name autos have extraordinary odds, there are some fun chase hits in there

Only 20 jordan autos across the entire print run and zero lebron autos (that I saw)
