The inconsistency in the BGS flips is one of their biggest weaknesses. No rhyme or reason the way they do stuff like this. I've got cards with front auto grades, cards with rear auto grades, cards with subs on front, cards with subs on back, different color labels, etc, etc. When all's said and done, with the rising costs and infinite turn around times, its just too much for me at this point, and my collection is 99.9% exclusively BVG/BGS.

I'm 99% sure it's because the slabs are different thicknesses. Not to excuse the inconsistency, but I imagine they were manufactured at different times.

Just another BGS inconsistency. I’ve sent several in for a reslab “auto grade on front” because I can’t stand having more than 1 of the same PC card in different case types from the same company.
My last order I just got back just puzzled me on the auto grade. No flaws I could see and looked very similar to two other of them same card they recently graded a 10. The order prior to that, something even more bizarre happened on a reslab. I’ve always been a BGS supporter; but I’m done with them- seems PSA is the way now based on all around value. If anyone sees why mine got a 9 when compared to the other two copies, please let me know: ![]() |

BGS Auto grade is a joke.
My Exquisite MJ has a 9 auto, while many other cards with the same flaw got a 10 auto grade. Important to note that all MJ autos in this set have the exact same flaw: the ink is bubbly where it touches MJ’s shoe. (It’s because of the card’s texture.) 10 auto: ![]() 10 auto: ![]() My copy 9 auto: ![]() Conclusion: Buy the auto, not the grade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When I sent that Brady/Bulger card in I asked for them to make sure they put Brady on the front of the slab. You can see how well that turned out. Also I have no idea how that auto got a 9 Usually Bulger's sig is missing parts of some letters. This is one of the better autos I've seen from both players on this card and they gave it a 9.

My BAS order just popped today and apparently this auto received an 8.
![]() I was expecting a 9 on the auto but I guess the bubbling was too bad in their eyes. It also received a BGS 9.5 grade on the card so I'm curious the flip style and flip colours. |

Pretty sure it's because the cases needed for the extra-thick cards like the Mahomes don't have the recesses for the front auto mini-grade flip, so they compromised by putting it on the back of the flip. They are different cases manufactured a different way.

What we all really want to see is that Prism Jewel sticker Jordan that's just off to the side. Simply aren't that many of those in existence.

Thick card BGS slabs always have the auto grade on the back. Regular BGS slabs the auto grade is usually on the front, unless BGS is out of the auto chips, then they put the auto grade on the back.
