Default 1993/94 Upper Deck Golden Grahams

About as odd as you can get when it comes to Upper Deck. There are 4 versions of these cards. Golden Grahams French, Golden Grahams Italian, Golden Grahams Portuguese, and Golden Grahams Spanish. There is NOT a Golden Grahams German version as far as I am aware and I have done a lot of digging and have found no historical sales on Ebay. Again I could be wrong, but hear me now believe me later LOL! I have chatted with multiple dealers who have owned and sold these cards and they agree with what I am saying. I was not aware of these cards for the longest time. These can be VERY difficult to track down. I was lucky enough to locate the French and Italian from a Kukoc collector who was selling his collection.

How are these different then your base Upper Deck card?
1. The Card Number. US, Foreign, and Golden Grahams Foreign releases all have different numbers.
2. A majority of the text on the card is in a different language. The first paragraph below the picture is in English. This is usually the easiest way to tell if it is a US or foreign release.
3. Some other Upper Deck/Collector’s Choice foreign editions differ by printed in EU, but these are all printed in the USA.
4. How can you tell the difference between a French and a French Golden Grahams? The number of the card.
a. Front of the card looks the same:

b. US version back #: 299

c. Foreign Version back #: 157
i. French

ii. German

iii. Italian

iv. Spanish

d. Golden Grahams Version back #: 5
i. French

ii. Italian

iii. Portuguese

iv. Spanish

Checklist:
1. Charles Barkley
2. Alonzo Mourning
3. Billy Owens
4. Patrick Ewing
5. Toni Kukoc
6. Hakeem Olajuwon
7. Dan Majerle
8. Larry Johnson
9. John Stockton
10. Christian Laettner
11. Dominique Wilkins
12. Detlef Schrempf
13. Shawn Kemp
14. Derrick Coleman
15. Shaquille O’Neal
16. Clyde Drexler
17. David Robinson
18. Tom Gugliotta
19. Mark Price
20. Sean Elliott
21. Reggie Miller
22. Todd Day
23. Mitch Richmond
24. Jim Jackson
25. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
26. Danny Manning
27. Doug Christie
28. Chris Webber
29. Anfernee Hardaway
30. Karl Malone
31. Jamal Mashburn
32. Shawn Bradley
33. Dino Radja
34. Ken Norman
35. Harold Miner
36. John Starks
37. Dale Ellis
38. Glen Rice
39. Clarence Weatherspoon
40. Dee Brown

If this is helpful please let me know. Thinking about covering other Collector’s Choice/Upper Deck foreign variations if people are interested.

I love that Golden Grahams cereal box! Thanks for the write-up on the cards as well, I had barely learned myself about the German version not existing as well.

Excellent write up here sir. I never knew these existed. No Rodman? No thanks. Interesting checklist, totally early 90s.

If you write about one language version of UD per day, you’ll be done when Zion is retired

Just don't add German since it wasn't made. They are TOUGH to find, but good luck with your search!

oh I agree! With new stuff you can find the checklist anywhere. Older stuff most checklists don't exist so you have to pull from different resources to find a correct list. Makes me wonder if some of the cards I am searching for do not exist.

hi, wasn't on BO for a long time and pleased to see that you're still "THE Kukoc guy" and are making BO unsafe ;-) with highly interesting threads !

There's a fellow collector in Europe who's currently dealing with the whole Golden Grahams matter.
He's still searching for some cards to complete his Italian set (especially Penny Hardaway) but also has some doubles from other players in different languages.

I've got the Spanish and Portuguese Glen Rice from him

I gave him the link to this thread, maybe he'll join the party.

Stay tuned !

Thanks for asking, me and my family made it so far - dam'd Covid - and yeah, there's surely too much newer stuff and I also decided to concentrate mainly on Glen Rice' active years and to buy only some newer issues that really catches my eye.

Stay safe and may your PC prosper !

btw - is Abra still active here ? Really loved his posts !
