The Ja was the best looking card I have seen no clue what the surface issue was.

Perhaps BGS damaged the surface. It's happened to me.

Nearly every copy of this card I have seen has had some peeling along the back bottom edge.

Check the sticker on the auto also. Sometimes glue residue or fingerprints can be on the sticker. Outside of that, it's tough not seeing the card in hand.
