Default Game Used Jersey/Patch Cards Dirt

Hey guys,

So I’m not the biggest collected of Game Used football (Soccer) cards but recently I bought the Jamie Vardy card attached below.

As soon as I saw the card I knew I had to have it, mainly due to the dirt on the GU patch. Just wanted to ask if having dirt or wear on the Patch makes the card more desired?

I’ve rarely seen football cards with dirt or Game Used wear on them, mainly noticed it only in Baseball products.

If anyone can share their thoughts or opinions on GU material with wear or dirt on them, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys and Happy New Year!

I guess you can just rub dirt on them if you want.

Lol that’s quite true in all honesty but what makes certain about this card is that the other Vardy’s I’ve seen from this NT set also have a bit of dirt on them.

But yes, you very well could do that. Would be funny if someone did that to a Player worn jersey lol

I think it's possibly a dried stain from his pre-match port and Red Bull.

Nice find!

I don’t really collect MW cards but I do collect shirts and boots, especially when they can be photomatched.

Was that washed because those don't look they match up at all? The grass stain is above the Cygames symbol in the 1st pic but not the second as it's shifted to the left and the black streaks to the left of the 7 are all missing too.

Yeah, it was washed. Blurs the stains a bit.

Why? Unwashed it would smell, get mouldy.

You can't get anymore authentic than a shirt covered in DNA

Yeah, unwashed is best from a collecting standpoint, but it does depend how the shirt smells! I don’t wash any shirts I get, but if they are worn in the first half, the club washes them. The important thing is to be able to see the wear and ideally photomatch it.

This is my favorite unwashed shirt, worn by one of my idols - David Silva. It smells really strongly but thankfully it’s a smell of deodorant/cologne haha

Hi mate,

Where do you buy these game worn jerseys? It’s so hard to get actual verified that it worries me when I buy a whole jersey.

Do you get it at a specific store or just eBay?

Bu the way that’s a damn cool David Silva Game Jersey. Congrats on such a great find!

Hey,

Thanks!

Yeah, the majority of “match worn” stuff out there is fake. Maybe 90% of it. I’ve bought several things myself I later realized were not legit.

The best source is the clubs themselves: clubs like Liverpool auction MW shirts through their foundations. A number of club foundations have started auctioning shirts here: https://www.matchwornshirt.com/

Another great source is charity auctions that players themselves donate to, but these are hard to find.

Then you have people connected with certain clubs. For these items a photomatch is crucial in order to verify use.

Finally, there are dealers, who buy items from one of the sources above.

So...be careful and feel free to PM me with specific questions. Even big auction houses (Julien’s, Goldin, Huggins and Scott, etc) have fake stuff.
