Default 500,000+ Card Collection - Part III

Hello Everyone,

I have officially acquired the collection after all of the driving and moving!

Thank you to Matt for helping me move all of the boxes today. I don't just say things like this, but Matt is a genuine asset to this hobby. I have had many interactions with sellers at random shows, the national, and online. It was certainly refreshing to deal with someone like him. We discussed some of the awesome deals he has had recently and he definitely deserves them. He never tried to sell this collection as something it wasn't and in the end, that is what sealed the deal. It was also nice just chatting with him because you can tell he enjoys the hobby and sports in general.

Moving onto the collection...

A couple notes:

- I will share box by box and break down what is in each with some detail (There are over 100 boxes at least - not even sure its 500,000 cards still, but let's just say it is, haha). I will post a picture of the box first, then at a later point I will post the contents once I can go through and group things or organize them if needed. Hopefully everyone enjoys this format and it creates a little suspense. I will also try to outline my designs for things that I find. Maybe I'll make a set, throw something out, keep a single here or there, etc.

- I'm thinking about updating the OP with a top 10 finds. Obviously, you have seen what has been removed and sold from this collection, but it will still be fun to see what things I can find.

- If Anyone has any suggestions or requests from things they see, either post here or PM me. I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. It looks at the worst, there will be some stuff that will end up in the random low number awareness thread. Couldn't hurt to ask!

Here is the first box (aerial view) with one toploader and a rest of random cards (and the obligatory Jonathan Bender card since it is now officially a running joke):

Stay tuned to see what is in the box!

Thanks,

Hal

That should keep you busy for a while. How about posting a picture of the stack of boxes? I like the idea of updating the thread with the top 10 finds.

I always enjoy seeing this kind of stuff, like what's in there, I wish I could put my hands in the screen and look through them myself

It will keep me busy for a WHILE, haha. But it is fun. The boxes are in like 4 different rooms/storage areas in my apartment. You wouldn't be able to get the full appreciation for everything Thanks for looking!

Imagine me last night, eagerly awaiting to pick up the collection this morning. Actually, don't imagine that. My bad, haha.

Hopefully you are entertained at the very least!

Here is the first update. I will not be going through everything this fast, but I thought I should give an update since I was excited to go through the first box before bed.

Mostly near compete sets that you see in stacks.

Complete 2002-03 Authentix Base Set (w/ Jordan & Kobe) - Keeping this
Near complete 00-01 Fleer Showcase Base Set - Keeping this
Near complete 2003-04 Patchworks Base Set - Still on the fence

I did find two numbered cards - Maurice Taylor Patchworks Ruby /50 and Kittles Authentix Balcony /250. Almost forgot the Terrell Brandon Little Big Men - cool set!

It is nice to get some complete/near complete sets! One of the rows was literal trash, haha.

I have a feeling there is still a decent amount of this in your future. Looks like some fun finds already though!

That's fine, I'll be the one to finally throw it out. I am the last stop for stuff like that, haha.

Here is a pic of the net random box. Doesn't look promising, but we shall see!

Oh boy... this is going to be an odyssey, but it landed in the right place and with the right guy. It will be fun to follow along and see what all you wind up finding in these hundred boxes.

Such a dope design, one of the must underrated 90s sets out there.
It’s like a die-cut version of ‘93 Ultra Jam City. Glorious.

I'll be following this as well. I seem to get offered "3rds" or scrap collections, but I still buy, and enjoy the hunt. Hoping you find gold!

Thanks for following along. I appreciate the kind words. I am going to have a lot of sets to scan when this is all said and done!

The 99-00 Finest? There is Gugliotta, Gary Payton, Tim Hardaway, Vin Baker, Allan Houston, Steve Smith and Jason Kidd.

I don't think there is anything past 2009-10 unfortunatley. Not entirely sure...

Contents of the second box:

- There are multiple 00-01 Fleer Focus Base Sets (Keeping 1)
- 1 Complete 00-01 Fleer Tradition Glossy Set but it is WARPED, haha (Keeping)
- The Jamal Crawford and Desmond Mason Fleer Tradition Cards are the sticker versions.
-The Fleer Ultra cards are complete bricked and are unfortunately garbage. Too bad because it is a beautiful set

Quick before and after pictures of this box. 75% of these cards are bricked and will be tossed. The Baseball E-X, Stadium Club, and the Donruss Originals are worth holding onto though. Those are large partial sets at the very least. Don't really feel like sorting those right now.

Have you done a quick search thru all the boxes to see what to expect or are you just blindly grabbing boxes?

With how many hands this has been thru I wouldnt feel too confident of finding much decent/good stuff despite what the previous owners of it have said.
