Default 2020 Black Friday Wave Thread

It's getting close. My favorite time of the year in the hobby. Not getting my hopes up in 2020 as I don't expect many good deals, but still looking forward to see what will be offered.

Agree, but I have no hopes for this year tbh. The prices across the board are just bonkers.

Last Black Friday was my first since being back in the hobby. For the entire year, everyone told to me save up and look forward to Black Friday. Great deals they said! Tons of fun they said!

I didn't buy a single thing. There were no great deals. But hey, we'll probably see those Pete Rose boxes on sale for $18 per.

I have zero hope for any "deals" this Black Friday.

Topps will just try and clear up dead stock like 2020 heritage blasters.

I have little hope for NBA/NFL. There should be some interesting deals on baseball.

I just do baseball. And the OP put this in the baseball section. So yeah. I have no idea whether what you're citing is good or not.

Basically, this was exactly my experience last year too.

OK

2019 Optic Baseball Hobby case/$650 comes to mind. That won't happen this year obviously.

Wow, no. That certainly won't happen this year. What a difference a year makes.

I’m hoping for deals on licensed MLB products. I doubt there will be many.

There were a ton of 19 S2 retail deals last year. I think I bought at least 5 hanger cases and a few gravity boxes. Dont see this being the case 2020 but there were plenty of deals last year if I remember correctly.

Crazy how all of a sudden (now that resale value and collectibility is there), more people hopped on the Panini train, lol....

2019 was a bummer (I'm basically only baseball) and I didn't buy a thing since 2015. I only have the memories of $400 cases of 2015 Bowman Draft and $500 hobby cases of 2018 Topps Update.

This year is just different. Not sure how that day through the Cyber Monday will shake out but would anticipate ample buyers. It's historically been a good weekend on COMC for both buyers and sellers.

If I remember correctly, wasn't 2019 Black Friday simply the same exact deals that were released in the waves? And they basically released in waves on Black Friday as opposed to the surprise factor. That had to have killed page views and clicks. Previous years I was hitting refresh for hours. Last year I waited for the waves to be released each hour and then did other things.

its been years. Breakers have killed Black Friday

those that are saying "didnt you see/get XXX?" are talking about deals that sold out almost immediately (or were limited to 1 per)

5-6 years ago (before Breakers) you could get plenty of deals, no fear of missing due to not "F5ing" enough

The 2017 optic mega box cases were in 2018, not last year, if I remember correctly. I still have 17 left somehow.

They were probably even cheaper in 2018.

But yes it was last year they were offered for ~$600 ($29.95/box). Theoretically it was limit 20 boxes but some apparently ordered and received multiple cases without repercussion.

I really thought it was 2 years ago, but you're definitely right. I bought the last case on November 4th, 2019. The next day and they were $999.95.

Glad I didn't move until the end of November because my current company blocks BO on the work computers and I wouldn't have seen the deal. That's why I missed Ginter X this year

Just checked my order history and in 2018 they were 19.95. Got my one case last year. Were also some good deals on other 2017 football products last year hangers of donruss and rookies and stars
