First off, the charity seems like a great cause. With that said, WTF is going on here? Are they going shill bid crazy, on these charity auctions or what?
All auctions are tagged as Private Listings. But why? https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item...heroes&_sop=16 I started checking, after seeing some of these helmets being relisted again, after selling for a lot of money. The Carr, Brady, Mitch and John Elway "JR" all going back up for auction. Bad luck? almost 15% of their helmets were won by fake bidders? Who does that to a charity? With nearly 40 helmets sold, and it being a good cause, why did only 5 of these lucky winners actually leave feedback a month later? Seems odd. Are people not actually winning anything? After all, if these "winners" left feedback, that would expose their "Private listing" ID's. Here is where the conspiracy comes in. The feedback they got, is from people with 2nd chance offers. One that actually got an 10th chance offer. Jones sold for $363.50, but the actual winning bidder was the person that came in 2nd. Alright, I guess the winner didn't pay? ![]() ![]() Cousins sold for $305. But the actual buyer, just like the above, did so via second chance. They left feedback on their $215 bid, which was 4th place from the winner. That means the "winner" didnt pay, the 2nd and 3rd place bidders didnt want it for their bid, and finally the 4th place guy took it? Weird, but OK ![]() ![]() Here is the best one. Ryan sold for a crazy $1225. But I guess that bidder didnt pay either. 2nd chance offers? They had to go all the way down to the 10th place finisher, with their second chance offer, before finding a taker. Thats right, 9 bidders up were fake? And instead of just relisting, like they did with the half dozen new helmets, they sold it to the $165 guy instead? $1,225 sold, and they went to 10th place and took $165? 9 fake bidders in front of the 1 legit one? ![]() ![]() Am I out of my mind, or does this all look like Shenanigans? I hate throwing shade on a charity, but this just doesn't add up. |

To be clear. None of the actual winners left any feedback, a month after the auctions ended.
The only feedback left, were offers after the "winners" didn't pay. Not including all the "winners" that had their helmets relisted Again |

That does seem like a bunch of shenanigans is going on. I could see maybe one or two not being paid for total. but to have so many examples, and to have nine fake bidders at the top of one seems crazy to me too.

I would suspect given the charity type work/auction, they're not putting the resources into collecting from the deadbeat bidders and just relisting what wasnt paid for as this is likely easier than the man power and/or resources to try and contact backup bidders who may of been interested. IF it was an item you were interested in, I would contact them and let them know you were a previous bidder of the item and would still honor your xx bid of XXX and see what they say.

Could they really have a nonpaying bidder rate of 75% on 40 auctions? Thats my guess, looking at the 2nd chance, relisting and lack of feedback on the others that "sold" They are reaching out to the back up bidders, in the case of Matt Ryan, they would have had to have gone through 9 other higher bidders, until finally selling it to them. I agree with what you are saying, but that is not what is happening. You have to admit, the odds of so many not actually selling, even with multiple high bidders, resulting in relisted and 2nd chance auctions are pretty damn high. The fact that none of their feedback, is from anyone that actually had a winning bid is pretty suspect as well. All just bad luck, and lack of resources? Or does the fact that they purposely run these as "Private Listings", coupled with everything else I pointed out, add up to some serious shenanigans. By a charity no less. Honestly, not a single feedback left by any legit winner sums it up. IF feedback was left by them, even if it was just fluffing the numbers from a shill bid. That would expose the fake account, the same way I was able to see the 2nd chance winners, even though its private feedback. Looks pretty cunning, but also suspect. |
